for some reason with IE and opera both, it takes forever to type out posts/replies, there is a huge long delay its really super bad


anyone have any ideas ?

What is likely happening is that your CPU is being hammered. When you have your browser open and typing a reply to a message here, try opening your task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) and check CPU usage. Report what you see.

For some reason, this issue only appears on some of member's computers, but not all of them. It appears for those computers, FireFox is less of an issue. I think there might have been something in the templates that Xoxide added/edited, which either created this issue or intensified it. However, it appears to only be an issue on some (not all) computers.

It's not causing problems on every single computer. For instance, I'm replying to this post with a CPU usage of 2%, with 54 other processes running. And typing a response shows no latency whatsoever. I can also browse this website, and type a response, on my mobile device with no latency - and those units don't have quite the processor power as yesterday's computers.

 

I'm one of the members that experiences the same thing. When I'm typing on my laptop (pentium 2 366mhz) I get a huge lag and delay when typing. But when I'm on my desktop (pentium 4 3.4ghz) there is no lag at all.

So what are the specs on your computer?

 

If you guys change themes, lets say to the classic TGO, do you still have the same issue?

 

That was already tested in the past (not with the same members here). It did not make a difference. And it makes sense. The additional themes are childs of the main theme. Basically, color, font and image changes make up the difference.

 

Was going to suggest driver updates, sometimes older drivers make bizzare things happen. Just a thought. If you really don't know your computer though I wouldn't look into this. You need to know what you have on your motherboard, vid card, etc. Most likely the vid card driver might be the cause of this.

I'm not saying this will fix the problem but it's one avenue to explore.

no other site and i am a member on a billion sites out there

it sucks bad

in the past on different windows Os installs it cleared up or was not present

but on this install it is as bad as it gets

also it seems like the longer you wait to type in a reply the better it gets though

but not totally

and not always

very random

ive tried disabling add ons as well
even all of them

no effect

this vid card i have had in the past i have had it for years and during times when there was none of this typing lag issue here


i tried FF and opera as well

durign this reply it isnt so bad it is only delaying a few seconds


but randomly it can be as long as many minutes


the more you type then the longer the delay is


if you type several lines then it can take FOREVER to pop up

and like i said it is only here on TGO

i post on probably over 100 different sites/message forums regularly and this doesnt occur
