Has anyone ever used a phab catback. It is just like a loudmouth, being stainless and having a bullet style muffler, but it is about $200 cheaper.

 

It looks to be identical in routing to the loud mouth... Only difference I see is the missing SLP stamp on the muffler. I'm sure its loud as hell.

Ended up buying it, and got it in the mail yesterday.looks to be a pretty good system.

I had to make a custom bracket that slipped into the hanger on the passenger side. In the picture it wasn't in yet.

 

So I ended up making a video. It sounds a lot more raspy in the video than it is becuase it is in my barn. It was snowing and I didn't want to get the car out. I will make a take off video some time this week. I don't have much time to make a video becuase of school, but we are on break, so I will make one probably Wednesday or Friday.

 

I have the dynomax equivalent on my LS1 swap with custom Y, no cats and it is so loud I get the finger, scare pedestrians etc... However, I get lots of thumbs up too.

 

I love how loud it is. I turn heads whereever I go

Love the sound!! Mine has a Dynomax, but it is Way Way more quiet. Are you running headers and is it stil a 5.0L?

 

Yep hooker headers no cats.it is a 5.0 tpi

 

Did you have to do anything to the computer? I'm looking for a deeper sound, but I don't want to open a can of worms by changing from stock if I can avoid it. My 1985 has the 5.0L TPI

HOLY HOOKER HEADERS BATMAN!!! They make more styles than Kardashians have Twitter followers! Do you happen to know what style fits our cars? Do your headers turn back, I think they are called "LONG TUBE" or are yours short and dump straight down? Pictures of your exhaust would be great!!

Do you have a picture that shows off the tips while on the car. What size are they

 

 

They are 4 inch dual walled tips.

 

Did it come with those tips?

 

The kit that I bought did, but you can buy it without them.

 

Intermediate pipe looks small is it only 2 1/2 inches?

 

IIRC the I pipe was close to 2 3/4 and when it split up into the two pipes they were 2 1/2. The only reason I did the Exhaust was because of the sound, so I really didn't care about the size.

 

I just received mine and the muffler shop I went to couldn't do it because it's stainless steel and they said something about cracking.

 

What would crack?

 

I'm guessing the area they would weld. So i bought some clamps but the other problem that came up was that i need the original hanger which i thought i still had on my car. So now I'm trying to return the exhaust

 

I had to make a passenger side hanger for mine. Plus the kit that I bought came with clamps. The hanger that I made is just a piece of metal bent into an L shape, and slide into the top of the hanger. I then drilled two holes into the metal and ran a bolt and nut into the piece.

 

No welding? The guy at the muffler shop was talking about how he can't weld a hanger because it's stainless steel.

 

Nope did no welding at all. Just got clamps and had to do some work to get a hanger made.

 

If you want pictures of the hanger, I will get them for you when my car gets out of the shop. It will probably be sometime next week.

 

That sounds great! Any idea if it is a LM1 or is it a LM2 copy?

 

The loudmouth 2. It has a perferated core and fiberglass packing in it.

 

So i took it to another shop who do custom work and they welded everything. It gave me a deep sound not sure if your sound changed over time? Heard that exhaust need to break in. I have a 305tpi with no cats like yourself, but no headers.

 

I got my exhuast on in December and parked my car in January, so I haven't had much time running it.

The car is getting new injectors sometime this week. Haven't been driving the car very often. I'll get a sound clip after I get them installed.

 

Got a new clip as requested. It only is from the outside of the car. Haven't got the one on the inside yet

Because it's stainless steel. You have to use special mig wire to weld it to carbon steel.
