question about email notifications for subscribed threads?

Hi,

it might just be me and how I have things set, but I noticed whenever I get a subscribed thread email (that is, the thread has had an update), and I click on the link to see the new postings, it often takes me to what appears to be some random post in the thread, ie, not the first post or last post. Can I change that to view the last post? This is more prevalent when looking at a large thread with many pages.....

its not a problem, but what seems like a bug, and it just gets a little tedious to click the link, click the last page, and scroll down to the last entry, etc etc, every time......

thanks!

Re: question about email notifications for subscribed threads?

It is a confirmed, and known, bug for some time. I've worked with various people to try to find and resolve the issue, but so far, it has not been resolved. I will revisit the issue.

Thanks.

Re: question about email notifications for subscribed threads?

its not a problem
I wish I could say the same thing,............

The only notifications I get are to Private messages. It's not that the notifications are getting flagged by my ISP as junk mail or bringing my to the wrong update - I'm just not getting anything but PM updates. People were thinking that I was 'blowing them off' by not responding to their threads after they wrote a reply. But since I'm not getting notified and it's such a pain in the neck to try to follow each of the threads I write to,........ I simply quit posting for the most part.

P.S. The picture shows my User Settings - when I post to a thread at the bottom of this window it shows

Thread Subscription:
Notification Type:
"Instant E-Mail Notification"

Yet; I am still not getting any thread updates thru E-mail.

We've had a lot of issues with Yahoo.com in particular. I cannot answer why you would receive PMs notifications but not thread update notifications as both are sent from the same server and our testing shows that it is working, but I do know that we have been working with the proper teams (and Yahoo.com) to get this issue resolved.

It appears that Yahoo.com is rejecting a lot of our emails because it is flagged as junk. I'm not talking about emails ending up in your Bulk/Junk folder, I mean Yahoo is actually preventing the emails from even reaching users. The emails are being bounced back to us with a notice that Yahoo is blocking our emails.

Hopefully that issue will be resolved, soon, and hopefully that may resolve this issue with intermittent thread notifications (especially for Yahoo users).

Re: question about email notifications for subscribed threads?

Perhaps that's part of the problem; But that can't be all there is to it.

Let me be VERY specific since my last message was wrong. I am not getting any updates to threads I recently posted to. I can't say I'm not getting ANY - that is wrong,......

The last time I DID get a notification about an updated thread was on 4-23 for a thread that I wrote to before my Web Host change, "Can't edit posts????" Before that it was 4-17 about an update to another post I wrote into a long time ago "98+ CAMARO “LS1” Brakes: Bigger & Better Period". And before that it was 4-14 about yet another old thread "Show me your engine bay ". I do get them from time to time about old threads that I had written to in the past.

Now that I've put so much time into this issue this morning I believe that The problem seems to be that newer threads that I write to are not added to my subscription list.

The last 4-5 threads I have written into that HAVE replies after my post ( including this one ) are not on my subscription list. A couple of threads that I have written to after changing my web host ARE on my subscription list.... Most are not. I HAVE gotten notifications about threads that I have written since changing my Web Host, but they are few - since few are on the subscription list probably.

for example: I didn't get a notification about your reply to this thread; because it's not on the list. Since they are not on my list, I'm not getting some updates; regardless of any issues with my Web Host.

I've got no more time to look into this now. It now appears that there is a bigger problem with threads not being added to my subscription list rather than E-Mail notifications at this point.
