Suggestion : Resolved tag?
I've been around these boards for quite some time and the search has always been a big deal, lately I've been searching a lot for a problem I'm having and I spend more time clicking unresolved threads than anything, either unresolved or not replied to or updated ones, I know deleting threads can be a pain and who is to decide what should be axes?
My suggestion is to allow the original poster to edit the thread, somehow, I know mods are the only ones who can do the big stuff like title change, but show that its resolved, a check box, a tag that pops up on the side when we search the threads....something. Ultimately its up to the original poster to give a final update which not everyone does but I've always tried my hardest to throw out my fix for the threads I create.
If it were possible you could add a filter to the search engine (which has become unorganized compared to what it used to be, I have to search on Google and tag the site to find relevant posts) to only show resolved threads
I think that would organize things a bit better and also make people more inclined to search, god knows how many hours I've spent in the past 5 years rummaging through dead end threads.
Thoughts?

Re: Suggestion : Resolved tag?
The problem is, as you hinted from knowing, you have to get the original poster to even update their own thread. Having a resolved tag, which is possible, won't help the issue if they don't update their own thread.
We're already using that feature in the Classifieds, but instead of Resolved we have Sold prefix tags where the original poster can mark their item/car as Sold. The same issue exists as the tag, or even update from the original poster, is still rather low.
