For some of us it is because we've been around the board for a long, long time ( some us even from the start) and we volunteered to help out. Others it's because of their vast knowledge of the particular subject of the forum. But again it a volunteer thing. I think if your interested in volunteering your time email Dirk and see if he needs another for whichever particular forum your interested in.

In order to be moderator, you must first pass a few qualifications:

1) You need to own a car
2) You need to own a computer
3) You need to either:
3a) know how to spell
3b) have a spellchecker
4) Spend at least one hour working on your car for every eight you spend on the computer.
5) You must have at least two of the following:
5a) Metric box-end wrenches with a worn 8, 10, 12, and 15mm inside.
5b) SAE box-end wrenches with a worn 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, and 5/8 inside.
5c) Old, broken transmission mount in a box in a drawer of your toolbox
5d) Dog-eared copy of the F-body.org old FAQ stuck next to your service manual, home-bound with little bolts and duct tape.
6) You need to know how to take a joke.
7) You need to like working for free.
