carb swap

My gta has a 383 and a t56 and had an hsr setup. The last owner couldnt tune it so he just swapped a carb (a shitty edelbrock 750). I hate carbs and dont know a damn thing about them. Im not going to say i know everything about efi, but i def know alot more about it than carbs.

What all do i need to go back to efi? Also what are some good aftermarket efi setups? I know it isnt going to be cheap, but at least ill know how much to round up. If aftermarket, i would def like to able to connect my laptop and do some mild tuning as i go.

Thanks alot guys, sorry if this is stupid.

Re: carb swap

Edelbrock makes the Performer and Performer RPM Pro-Flo multiport EFI systems to include pump, rails, sensors, manifold, TB, ECM, and harness, plus software for tuning.

You can send your crappy carburetor to me.

So would I, but if he's unwilling to learn how to tune a Carter style AFB carburetor, then would he really be willing to do what it takes to tune a 730 ECM? That was my reasoning for the complete aftermarket system.

No.
It's pretty much the easiest four barrel carburetor to tune, and will support well over 500 HP.

But, if you think it's trash, I will take it.

depending what the original owner butchered up to do the carb swap , prob easier to get a used engine harness from a similar TPI car as well as the '165 computer if it has been removed.
Will need OE style computer controlled (small cap ) dist.

2nd hand perf intakes always on offer over in parts dept

Carter style AFBs are not vacuum secondary, though they do have an air-valve over the secondaries that takes all of 2 minutes to remove.

Shall I pm you my address for you to send me your garbage?
