Autoform ID# A4-02013 08/1983 Breman, IN
More pics to come. No reasonable offer refused. I will drive this car to any location of sale in the states.
What drivetrain combo ? How many miles on it ? ... 4k$ ? U said make offers just trying yo find a starting point .. I never knew these cars even existed lol
Dug my autoform out the garage
1. 1984
2. Z28 H.O
3. Red
4. AFS4-01025
5. unknown no other stickers
6. unknown
Interesting have not seen any other AFS4 cars.
Just when the labels were starting to make sense, you throw in this curveball. Thanks for posting the photo of the label, that helps to verify the oddity. Too bad there is no date/location of conversion label to help understand it a bit more.
I wonder if the S could mean it was converted in Shawnee OK plant. I do know that the car went to a Oklahoma City dealership (GM archives) which is only 40 miles from Shawnee. If there truly was a plant in Shawnee OK, have seen it mentioned a few times.
I just bought a 1983 Z28 Autoform Convertible. There are no Autoform numbers or decals on it. It sat in a body shop since 2002 when it was last smogged. It does not have the small trunk on the back, but you can see the outline where it was going to be on the inside fiberglass. It has a regular steel hood not a fiberglass Z28 nor a metal Z28. It is the four barrel 305. I think it is an early prototype......Bill This should be easy, since Autoform placed an I.D. label in the driver side door opening. Here is what we need from you: 1.Model year: 2.Model: (Firebird, TA, Formula, Berlinetta, Z28, etc) 3.Color: 4.Autoform Production # on door: 5. Date of conversion: 6. Location of conversion (Bremen, IN or Elkhart, IN or ??) If you find one for sale or at a car show, please get the AutoForm number and add it to this registry. And….don’t forget photos(if possible)!! You can add more info if you like.
I am hoping we can find some trends and start to interpolate production numbers.

Did you count mine? It is -----L for Los Angeles-141691. It is Black on Black and does not have the small trunk. You can see the inside where the trunk was laid out but never cut. It is a 1983 Z28. Bill

I have searched for years without ever finding an earlier Vin Number and if they were actually delivered by GM for conversion and delivered to a Chevrolet Dealership as a dealer option, mine may well be the Auto Form prototype and first Camaro conversion.
Please let me know if you can find an earlier production Camaro. My research has only found 4 1983 Auto Form Camaro conversions an they are all newer than mine.

jimmo8088 - The registry needs the info from the door labels, if those were not painted over. Go to the top post of this thread to see an example. Good to have you here, I am in OP,KS but don't have an f-body.

This my step dads camaro. He passed just shy of two years ago due to cancer. This was his project car. He wanted to get some of the small dents out, repaint it, and redo the pinstriping on it. But he ran out of time from work and the cancer. He bought the car back in 84 or 85 and im not sure when he got the convertible conversion done to it. But here is the info. Im hoping to have the car back on the road soon. Just have to change the radiator (cracked at the cap) and new plugs. I cleaned out the gas tank with 15+ year old gas and put new in and that did wonders for it.

3. Color: tan
4. Autoform Production # A4-01999 <- dont see it on the list
5. Date of conversion: Unsure- will try to find paperwork

Welcome! I have added your beautiful car to the list.
This is long overdue. It’s time to see if we can get owners (and sellers) of these Autoform roadsters to post info on their cars.

I have a 1983 Z28 Autoform Roadster. There is no Auto form production number on the door but I have found the number 1201 under the spare tire cover as well as on the fiberglass well, hidden when the spare tire cover is on. I don't know if these numbers are significant to the production run.The production GM S/N ends with 135653. It has a 305ci. with the Crossfire intake and runs great. I don't think there is a factory option that is not on this car it even has the charcoal gray painted wheel inserts, $17.00 dollars back in the day.

Thank you for posting. I have obtained a 1983 Camaro appears to be Z-28 base car but its convertible which has lead me to this page because it is a mystery to many. I've checked the vin number and it all checks the vin says Z-28 and Sport Coupe were the same number but never distinguishes which it is..lol I will now look for this sticker from auto form to see if its there.
