Running a Rally North America event in my craigslist Camaro
In July My Dad and I will be running in a 5 day open road rally starting in Billings, MT and ending in Portland, OR. It is being put on by Rally North America. Shortly after registering I bartered for a WELL used 1990 Camaro RS with 162k miles on the clock. You can check out my build thread here => https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/nort...erica-big.html
I definitely won't have the prettiest or fastest car on the rally, but I plan on having the most fun per dollar out of the 80 other teams. As I stated above the rally starts in Billings, MT with an opening day at the local dragstrip for some heads-up fun. After opening day the rally goes as follows:
Day 1: Billings, MT-Big Sky, MT over the Beartooth Pass into Yellowstone
Day 2: Big Sky, MT-Great Falls, MT route unknown
Day 3: Great Falls, MT-Kellogg, ID through Glacier Park
Day 4: Kellogg, ID-Kennewick, WA route unknown
Day 5: Kennewick, WA-Portland, OR
Each day is a timed scavenger hunt, where we are tasked with finding certain roadside attractions over a mostly unknown route. On the last day we get to run the PIR road course in Portland. After a quick run though with an instructor we will be turned loose for some hot laps. I've never been on a paved road course before, so I'm pretty excited for the opportunity.
I'm going to do my best, within my budget, to represent the 3rd Gen crowd and try to beat up on the many Mustangs that will be part of the rally. A full list of the teams and what they are driving can be seen here=> https://www.rallynorthamerica.com/ra...er-2016/teams/
Part of every rally the Rally North America puts on is to try to raise as much money as possible for a certain charitable organization. Every team is challenged to raise money, which in turn determines the starting grid for each day as well as other perks. If you have a few extra $$$$ (even if its just a $1) please consider donating to our benefiting charity here=> http://events.campsunshine.org/site/...eam&fr_id=1250
Until just recently my team was holding onto 3rd place, but recently were bumped to 4th. With every donation of $20 or more I will add your name to the car as part of the decal package during the rally, and please feel free to give me pointers on my build thread as this is where I've gotten the majority of my information on the build.
Thanks,
