Lmao, sounds good to me

Today I started my LS for the first time. It sounds mean. Tuning with the Megasquirt has a really big learning curve to it. Just getting it to stay running after it first fires up is what I'm working on right now. Will has been helping me through it though so hopefully I'll get it tomorrow.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Had fun wednesday night. 1/8 mile at showtime dragstrip. was my first time on a real strip. been doing tons of street racing over the years. took me a bit to figure out the staging, etc. i was a bit disappointed in my times but i guess it was to be expected? first 3 runs were 8.7. last run was 8.3 at 83mph with 100 shot. not very impressive but all in all a good time.

was cool i got #3 as i'm an Earnhardt fan, lol.

about a second off the line
havent done a plug reading yet
IDK the bottle pressure? im a noob to nitrous, but i had the bottle filled and only sprayed it once or twice before racing.
heres the converter im using; http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-700350

as kind of a fun bonus, the SRT neon that beat me last year with his 22lbs of boost only ran a 9.2 and a 9.0. i was happy to have run a lil faster. got a video on facebook but dont know how to move it here? its in a group called "third gen riders."

pulled some plugs. they look ok to me. maybe a bit rich, idk? thoughts?

No worries. We called it since Will's car had it's heater core fail right before he came out.

I've gotta push the Camaro back again. The 4Runner needs about $500 worth of maintenance if not more.

What kit are you using.? There should be some basic guidelines for beginners using nitrous.

You want to keep your bottle pressure between 900-1100.
For PIZZ sake don't use a torch to heat the bottle and get the pressure up...

you don't want to use projected tip plugs like your using there.

What was the fuel pressure at the fuel solenoid?

Started some work on the car. Swapped out the broken power antenna for a non-power unit. Tried to remove the rest of the old harness at the bulkhead connector but no luck. Will have to try again tomorrow.

Sold my C4 Vette wheels, selling my spare set of headers tomorrow. And probably going to pull my Hooker setup and sell that soon as well. Prepping for a LS swap.

Got a lead on a motor? Going T56 as well? You should have done this from the get-go.

One day, I'll do the swap as well.

No leads yet, planning on T56. I haven't really started looking since I'm still recovering from spending so much to move, and the 4Runner is in need of maintenance so that has to come first. Can't LS swap the car if I can't get to work.

What was the fuel pressure at the fuel solenoid?
its the NX express mainline, plate kit. adjustable to 250.
i went from 45 to 43 plugs. i do have some champion equivilant to AC 41's.
fuel pressure is 7psi at carb. no gauge at solenoid. i'd like to add a low fuel pressure cut off switch soon.

these are what I use for a 150. they are for an aluminum head. Notice how the electrode is down in the plug.

they want bottle pressure at 1050. and 10lbs of fuel pressure at the noid.

I have a fuel pressure safety switch on mine. (hobbs switch). Reading on forums, a lot of people say to not run them. They will leak and spray fuel over everything. Ill be removing mine.

i appreciate the tips. not too worried about blowing this motor, (although i really dont want to), its been together since 2005. just cast heads, pistons and crank. eventually i want to build something bigger and stronger. takes time and money. im thankful to just have a toy to play with.

Probably gonna do a head and carb swap on the 327. LS swap is way down the road and I wanna drive my car now. I don't like that it sits doing nothing. I've got too many other things going on at the moment to fix it like I want.

At least I can do a head, cam, and carb swap in the 327 for less than $1000. Will wants to buy my 700R so if I come across a 5 speed swap I can recoup some money.

One of the heads is losing a valve on cyl 1 and cyl 7. I could rebuild these heads but they are a garbage casting, and who knows what the cam is, my carb is junk too.

Motor really just needs a top end rebuild, but I wanted to go EFI again and make the car daily worthy again.

Which one is your daily? The 4runner? Why not fix that and save $$ for LS instead of waste more money on that motor. Or sell the motor and buy LS.

I fixed the 4Runner. I'm only gonna fix the 327 just so I can drive the car until I have most of what I need to LS swap. I'm months away from even buying a motor right now. I moved recently so I'm still paying down the debt that's come from that.

On the hunt for a set of 083 heads, can be in any condition as long as the valves are there. Don't want to spend more than $100 on them if you guys don't mind keeping an eye out.

Opinions on this cam? It seems to be right where my goals are without breaking the bank. I've already got a set of Scorpion 1.5 roller rockers to go with it.

lunanti makes a good cam however one thing you want to be careful is the size if your running a.c and the like. go to big you will need a vacuum canister for your brakes and such to work.

hey guys, I know its not Tampa but I live in south FLorida and I tune all your engines, and others. You can do hourly $100/hour and the first hour is free if you bring me the vehicle and supply the electronics, usually take 2-3 hours on the street to do a full tune just the most basic drivability/safety functions in any ECU with a large injector 500-800rwhp street car, then we can goto the dyno if you want it cleaner, I use the same dynometer at STP Performance in Ft Lauderdale, for 15 years. I also create a diagnostic report and tell you what you need to fix or upgrade or even downgrade based on years of experience and knowledge. Most jobs are $200 total to give you an idea, plus dyno time which is usually $60, it only takes me 5-7 runs usually to clean it up and get the most from the combination, then we can dial it back for the street as needed (loading on the street against vehicle weight and gearing is quite different than pushing a roller "weight"). Not to turn this into a damn book but I keep forgetting to let people know on this site that I still tune cars.

Rubber, have you been driving your car? I had a guy at my work say he saw an orange 3rd gen camaro lowered with silver wheels in Lakeland.

Unfortunately no. It's been in the garage since January. I'm hoping to get the motor into okay shape for July 4th though. My girlfriend wants to ride around in it lol.

Uh oh, better have some dark tint and a/c. We all know what that means when the girlfriend wants to go for a ride in it. They want you to take them somewhere fancy and spend lots of your $$.

Hahaha, it won't have A/C on the 4th, but when I finish up the motor it will. Good thing it's got a posi, I can spin the tires easier lol.

Got a lead on some heads. Bare 186 castings, they are double hump heads, but they have accessory holes.

Any car meets around the area? I'm near sun city center. I recently relocated to Florida from New Jersey.

Welcome, Drew!

We haven't had a get together in some time now. I usually do stuff with some of my friends with other types of cars. Next event I will be going to is in Lakeland at the Detroit Muscle Speed Shop. That will be July 9th.

Here is some pictures from the gathering. There were so many cars, it is impossible to take a single picture and get all of them in it at once.

Dual 2" seems on the tiny side?
what headers do you have? i have a dual 2 1/2 with h-pipe and cherry bombs i'd sell dirt cheap. it fits hooker shortys.

So I had an idea last night. And now I have 19x10 Vette wheels front and rear. I'll get a photo tonight.
