I permanently grounded my relay, then JayZ28 was nice enough to reprogram my ecm and remove it. Resistor is a cleaner way though and reversible.

I am thinking 8 Years ago. It's been more than 2 years since I have seen you all down there.

I have been thinking of a Florida meet again but...that is tough to get attendance. I think all FBODY meets are dwindling in attendance. So much so that other types of cars are usually invited as well.

wow, that means your daughter is 2 or 3 now right????

Where does the time go!

and I'd love to do another state wide meet too, but where do you find the time to plan, organize and generate interest????

It is tough to say the least.

Yeah she will be 3 in September.

I think the toughest part is generating interest. Nobody wants to drive a few hours away if the meet isn't worth it.
Actually, Florida Camaro and Firebird Association was brought back to life. I've seen many nice third gens on their Facebook page. I think they do yearly gatherings. I will check.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

thought i'd add some more pics. installed the center chunk, cleaned everything real good, sleeved the joints, checked to make sure the axles will fit and they do, chamfered the edges for welding, etc. tomorrow i'm gonna check my million measurements, then tack it up, then finish weld and weld the tubes to the pumpkin.

What are you going to do about the spring perches and shock mounts now that those brackets are in a couple inches?

well, i'm 47. after high school i worked in a local machanic shop. then did 1,200 hour class in the state of florida and got some mechanic certificate, then went into the army as a light wheel vehicle mechanic, (69Bravo). got married and all my in-laws are welders. so i learned to weld and kinda liked it more. got a business license at age 33 and pretty much been working for myself ever since. the computer has been helpful learning and doing research also.

was really surprised how nice the harbor freight inverter tig welder worked for the price. it wont weld aluminum, , but thats ok. first test weld with it, then i went to town on the axle tubes.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

not real pretty, and the machine is low tech, scratch start, no foot pedal to adjust amperage, but got good penetration IMO. bunch of tacks, and measurements, then finish welded it.

the gas hose popped of the argon regulator and i lost a bunch of gas. so i need to get some hose clamps or something and more gas already. its just a small bottle. for the home guy, i'd recommend the machine and you can stick weld with it too. was about $200.

pulled the axles back out, taped up the yoke and painted it with some silver hammer tone paint from lowes. i bought new axle seals but havent changed them yet. cant install the axles til i put the brakes back on. wont put the "pretty" chrome cover on til i install everything, lol.

^^ this also as long as we are on the subjects of rear ends. i pulled the posi out of my my gta when i got rid of it and put it in my now camaro. i think they come stock with 323's in the back but i have a set of motive gear 3:70s that i want to gear the rear to however this job is way over my head lol. can someone recommend a good shop or mechanic that would do a good job and not rape me on price ?
if you need a hand Edward, call me or stop by with your parts. 727-657-1826. see what we can put together. i dont have a press to change the pinion bearing, but last time i got 1 changed i think it was $15.oo at the machine shop?

That would be cool. And even if you dont...your only 20min away so you could leave right away.

Anyone get a hold of Will for the meet?
I haven't got anyone to cover me, but, it's close enough that I think I'll go.

Will's car is down too. Put a hole in cyl 1 piston. We're still working on getting the 3.4 I gave him up to snuff to put in.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Pulled my motor today. Both head gaskets were shot. But the heads seem okay. Might just get this back together so I can drive while I put together a LS swap.

Heads could be warped and can't tell. I wouldn't bother. Just get that ls swap done.
