Centerline Telstar wheels, what they actually look like.
Ive looked for a long time for pics of centerline telstar wheels on a thirdgen but just couldnt fine any i bought them any way imo i think they are sweet, but that is up for you to decide here are some pics for you all.
Wow! Yours is truly the 1st 3rd Gen I have seen with them. I must say I think they look bitchin! What sizes did you go with for your wheels and tires? Your stance looks good and and it looks great out back too.
i think that it is because of the styling of the front end and rear spoiler. they just don't look right lifted with slicks in the back. those rim have "i got slicks on me" written all over them
Hey, thanks guys for all the compliments. I just want you to know Axoid that your photo i saw a year ago made me want them so bad and i got them.
They are:
wheels front 15x6 w/ i think 4.5 bs
Backs are 15x8 W/ 4.5 bs
tires front bfg radial ta's 215/60/15
backs are bfg drag radials 275/50/15
If any one plans on actually buying any of this stuff so i can confirm that toes are the right sizes but i think they are right or at least close.
ps. my right rear tire rubs on the outer fender well and has cut some nasty grouves in the out side tred of teh tire. Any one familiar with this problem or with "rolling the edge" still not sure exactly what to do to fix the problem.
on the topic of brakes actually, yes. They rubbed
i just took an angle grinder to the heat sinks on the outside of the rear disk brak calipar it only took a little clearencing.
o, and could someone inform me on what "ccw" is, please
being that everyone looking at this is interested in the topic of aftermarcket wheel and tire set ups, i was hoping someone could afford me some help.
The set up above has recently been found to be rubbing bad.
i also just noticed the right side outer fender lip is cutting huge slashes into the out side of the tred on the right rear tire.
WHAT CAN I DO
i hear things like rolling the edge, and getting different suspension set ups but really is going to work for me?

If it's only rubbing one side, it sounds like your rear LCA bushings are worn. I'd invest in a set of BMR tubular lowers since they will really keep the rear from wandering.
Where exactly is it rubbing/hitting? On both sides?
I’ve run exactly the same tires on a wheel with the same wheel offset with no issues at all, and the car is lowered about 2” all the way around. Right now I’m using some 275/60/15 BFG DR’s with the same suspension and about ¼” more offset , and had to clearance some on the inside and where the spare tire bulge is, but again, no problems on the outside…

I belive the exact deal is that it is ribbing on the out side of the fender well, where the outer body panel is turned in and spot wealded. on the left it looks like it is rubbing but the angle of the lip on the fender isnt hitting the tire with anything shart, while with the passenger side it is hitting something sharp and is cutting pretty bad.
Some one suggested lca's or lca bushings how exactly could thoes be affecting my situation and also just out of curiosity, how would thoes help me performance wise, from stock ones. Also could it just be something like old or worn out suspension (shocks/struts or springs) I have done nothing what so ever with the current suspension set up, and the car actually looks like it has alredy been lowered but with stock springs im thinking the springs are just getting old.
Hope that gives you the info you need to keep the good advice comming,
another question if i were to just get some of the eibach pro kit springs they say the have 1.25 lowering front and back. teh only thing is part is 109 spring rate and the rest is 177 so if you get to the tight part of the spring before i get rubbing i should be ok, right? Also if my stock old springs are warn out is it possible that they are lowering the ride hight and or letting the rear hit easier?
To be honest with you I don’t know, what springs are in there now?
I had some eibach pro kit springs on the back of that car, but later replaced them with some cut stockers when I decided that it didn’t sit right and didn’t like the progressive rate. I don’t remember which springs were on the back of the car when I had those tires. I know that I didn’t have any signs of rubbing, and like I said, the 275 60’s don’t rub by the fender lips but instead on the inside, and it really isn’t bad enough that I REALLY had to do anything to fix it (I did tap the few spots out of the way with a hammer anyway).
Do you have any idea when they’re actually touching? Is the rear axle centered in the car?
yea, it sounds like the back spacing may be a little different on our cars or something because i have no rubbing on the inside i dont think. but it hits when i hit a heavy bump often turning left, throwing the weight right. and when under full out acceleration, rear suspension drops.
for right now i actually am getting ready to go back to school so if we can figure out whats up now that would be great but after that the car is going to go in to my grage for the winter.
due to the fact that you say the tire makes contact when you hit a bump suggests your shocks are worn in the back. Buying a replacement set of shocks will allow better dampening and will solve some of this problem. If you've got the money, a set of aftermarket springs would help as well, but the tradeoff would be a significantly harsher ride.. going from my dad's 91 t/a with worn springs/shocks/struts to my firebird with aftermarket stuff is night and day (the t/a is cushy and floats, while my car is alot more harsh). You mentioned that the right side rubs more than the left.. this may suggest that your rear end is positioned slightly more to the passenger side. While cornering, does your car feel like the rear isn't planted, like it has some lateral play in it? If so, take a look at your panhard rod bushings as well as your lca bushings. To answer your question about aftermarket lca's.. they'll reduce wheelhop, helping you launch.
If you choose to roll your fender lips, I've heard stories of people using a baseball bat or a pipe of similar diameter and applying pressure to force the edge inward and upward. I have never done this before, so I can't offer any advice, but I'd assume that you'd have to be very cautious to get the bend right. It also wouldn't hurt to place a rag between the bat and the fender to prevent scratching.
ive got some very similar. i think they are alot better lookin than some big *** ugly 20 inch spokes and 5 point ones i see people puttin on them. those ***** are for big old lunky buicks and cadilacs, not muscle. but yeah, good choice on the rims!
Re: Centerline Telstar wheels, what they actually look like.
I know this is ages ago, but I thought I would update the thread. I did end up replacing the rear springs and shocks, with stock stuff if I remember right, and the rubbing problem went away. I also replaced my lca's and the angled bar, sorry havnt been working on the camaro much lately, and all bushings around that time, but I'm not sure if they aided in the cure.
