LTX and LSXPutting LT1s, LS1s, and their variants into Third Gens is becoming more popular. This board is for those who are doing and have done the swaps so they can discuss all of their technical aspects including repairs, swap info, and performance upgrades.
Okay so I was gonna do a 383 with AFR heads and 700r4. Well this weekend I wrapped my daily driver 2001 SS around a telephone pole and broke my neck. My car is totaled but my 86 Z28 is awaiting a new engine so I wanted to merge the two cars together. So what all is usable from a 2001 LS1/4l60e that can be swapped into an 86. I'm asking if the fuel tank, gauge cluster and what else would be usable. I know I could buy everything from hawks but I have a complete downer car so only wanna buy what has to be bought. The SS had long tubes so I know I'll be buying their headers and I'm keeping a/c so possibly their conversion k member as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. SS had 87,000 miles on engine and transmission.
Please no negative comments you guys don't know how ****ing stupid I feel already for recking my SS. I just put a GMMG exhaust on it which will be going towards the Z28. Don't ask how it happened because I really don't know, all I know is that when I woke up from a week long coma they told me I had recked my car.

Pretty sure fuel tank and rearend are toast as well as the E-brake cables. I have a few questions...
If I swap the steering column into the car will I be able to add the cruise control and delayed wipers? My 86 has neither of those and they are the few amenities I'll miss from the car. Are there any benefits to running the 4th gen brake master? Or is it just suggested when running 4th gen calipers?
Since I am using all the 4Th gen brakes on my car I decided to use the brake master and booster as well. As far as the wipers I havn't got there yet. But I used the E-brakes and center console from the 6 Speed.
