So I removed my Hawks T56 crossmember and started installing my new Hooker crossmember. Hooker setup is better in every way plus moves the torque arm from the transmission to the cross member.
Half way through the install I found an issue. If you are running a modified tail housing to run a cable driven speedometer as I am there are some clearance issues.
So I am going to remove some material in this area to make room for my speedometer cable.
Anyone think this will compromise the strength to my new crossmember?
90-degree adapters for speedometer cables exist. For that matter, I'm sure one of my cars had an aluminum shield clipped on the end of the cable to hold it to a soft 90-degree bend, could have been on my Mustang... I doubt a clearance cut would effect the overbuilt crossmember, it'd just be a lot easier to move the cable out of the way.
