HELP. 89 BEECHWOOD carpet. ACC possibly from Hawk's
I'm going to order carpet tonight or tomorrow. I only need the passenger compartment but:
A: There is no Beechwood option
B. Do I want to add Mass Backing?
C. Do I want loose padding
D. What is the best color match to factory?
Re: HELP. 89 BEECHWOOD carpet. ACC possibly from Hawk's
ACC Cognac is DARN close. You have to hold it up to an unfaded piece of original carpet to see a difference, and even then it's minimal. Can't really go by pics you see online, especially swatches. Most places will send samples. ACC did when I bought mine. ...but a search will show most people use Cognac for Beechwood.
I didn't get any padding with mine, as I didn't mind a little extra "car" sound. That being said, I can't really tell a difference. Hard to do a back to back comparison. Do a search and you'll get opinions going either way.
When it comes time to swap. Do it on a sunny day and let the carpet sit out in the sun and warm up. MUCH easier.
If your console is carpeted (I think they all are) you'll probably wanna redo that too. I bought some extra Cognac carpet and reupholstered it as well.

I went with the Mass Backing because that's what came out of it.I truly believe the Mass Backing saved my floors from the leaky T Tops and the occasional thunder storms that ALWAYS POPS UP when I'm napping.

This is an ACC Cognac mat on top of my original Beechwood carpeting in my TTA. Granted, there could have been some fading over the years, but it is definitely a little darker. I would get the carpet for the cargo area as well so it all matches. Get the mass backing. The carpet fits better and stays put because it has more substance to it.

Thank you guys. I would get the rear carpet as well but a GTA Convertible & is like new in the back. If the color is way off, I'll buy it after I get the passenger compartment wrapped up.
I was going to get the mass backing & I guess any upgrade is worth the $.
I appreciate it.
I was trying to find the recommendation of color from TTA Forum but that color is no longer made.
Is Hawk's a good avenue price wise or someone else supply cheaper?
Re: HELP. 89 BEECHWOOD carpet. ACC possibly from Hawk's
I was on Hawk's & the price jumped from $185 to $325 for Mass Backing.
So I went to Summit & there price is $179 but no option for Mass Backing.
What is stock? Mass Backed or just molded?
Re: HELP. 89 BEECHWOOD carpet. ACC possibly from Hawk's
I checked & added to my cart but no Mass Backing option. From Cape I've pulled out in the past it's pretty heavy but is factory Mass Backed?
The reason for my concern is there were only 144 of these cars made & I want it to be right.
