Review: Dupli-color touch up paint

Dupli-color review.

My 99TA's side mirrors looked bad. Clear coat peeled off and paint weathered flat black. I was quoted $300 for a pro to repaint mirrors - which I think indicate the project wasn't something he wanted to fool with.

Picked up some scratch filling primer, black & clear coat. It was so bad it's not like I could make it look worse - I hope.

Replace the red can with GM Black
Nasty driver side, 400 grit wet sand followed with 1500 grit and wiped clean.
Nasty passenger side. Same process.
Ghetto masking with plastic bags and masking tape. Light coat of primer. Two coats.
Repeat
The primer sprayed very well for a rattle can after shaking for a minute. Two thin fine coats. Primer leveled nicely.

Re: Review: Dupli-color touch up paint

I was pleasantly surprised with the primer coat.

The moment of truth color coats. Shook can for a minute and followed directions.

Two light coats

Will wet sand in a week and then clear coat

I am very happy with how well the Dupli-color sprayed and looked afterward. Next week will wet sand and clear coat and post follow up.

Dupli-coat - recommend

I've used Dupli-color's spot/touch up/pen tool thing and I was pretty impressed with how well it matched my bright red.

Re: Review: Dupli-color touch up paint

I had to touch-up a radiator support after trimming away some material for clearance to fit some aftermarket bulbs; not a cosmetic touch-up, more for corrosion resistance.

The Duplicolor matched the existing color perfectly (GM Code 382, Pewter Metallic).

How about a follow-up? I'd love to see some pics after the clear coat.

I've been negligent in following up with clear coat.

I started on an ERL 416 for the TA just got that installed two weeks ago...

And last week we installed a Hawk's Motorsports 4th gen rear in my Girlfriend's son's 91Z28
