1985 Z28 L69 Conversion
In 1985, the L69 option was only available in the IROC and not the base model Z28. I have fixed Chevrolet's marketing oversight.

Re: 1985 Z28 L69 Conversion
That's a pretty sweet car as it came from the factory. Be sure to save all the original parts. But the conversion is fun and not irreversible should that day ever come. Thanks for sharing.

I am the 2nd owner. The original owner negotiated with the dealership to paint the rims black. He took such immaculate care of the Z28. The rims will remain as tribute to his efforts.

I'll say it again - you made the perfect choices of upgrades for your car.

I can't wait to see what it runs in the 1/4, after you change the gears.

The unshrouding of the valves in the combustion chamber increased the volume to 58cc heads with a .027 Cometics head gasket......swag calculations put the static at 9.75:1

LOVE this car!!!!! ....I already nominated someone this month, but if I'm allowed, I'll "second" your nomination.
As for the car, man, I love it!!!!!!! ....As an Iroc owner, they've always been my true "favorite" but I've always wanted to build an 85-87 Z28 but give it the same treatment as my Iroc- "stock appearing" but upgrade some of the hidden goodies!
Gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!

I ran DD2000 for you using flow numbers for Chevy Fast-Burn heads (about 215/150 cfm at .500"). Attached is what it came up with.

Re: 1985 Z28 L69 Conversion
I need to start shifting a little sooner, because I have been winding it to 6000. Even with a far less than optimal rear gear and that Cliff's Performance CC CARB it will float the valves quickly. I only did it once and had bad visions of pistons smacking valves.

Thank you for your kind words. I am retired and having a blast. Yesterday, a local Pepboys had a small Car Show and the Camaro won 1st Place!!!! The cool part was the Judge said, "It wasn't even close."
