Abubaca!!!
Abubaca!!! I like saying that. Before, I always thought it was "Abuca".
Its great to see that TPI love, and your '89 IROC is done right.
"Yes, yes, and yes" is just about all I can say about your car - and that its another great example of Third Gen awesomeness.
I bought the car in January of 1998. Really nice condition, and I DD'd it for about 4 years. Since then it's been one part at a time, slowly getting better each time. My goal for the car has always been to keep it looking as much stock appearing as possible, inside and out, while making it perform the way I want it. Sometimes "stock" takes a back seat to performance (383ci), but...sometimes stock wins. (TPI on top of that 383!!!) ...and just about every part has either been kept on purpose, or swapped on purpose. I've had it completely apart. I also take enormous pride in the doing the vast majority of the work myself. While not everything was done by me, I feel confident that more times than not, if I take it to a show or cruise in, I've done a lot more work myself than most. In a day of muscle cars having 500hp of the showroom floor, i think that helps set me apart.
I've had 3 interiors, 3 axles, 4 transmission, 2 engines, and just this past December, I cranked her up for the first time in a year with a new 383, TKO 600, and Holley HP EFI. I hope to keep it this way for awhile. (Maybe an 8.8, LOL) ...anyhow, here's the low down:
Holley HP EFI controlling a 383ci 2pc. RMS small block - RHS Pro Action heads - Custom Lunati Voodoo cam - High Flow Fuel Injection ported stock base, heavily ported SLP runners/plenum, all port matched - SLP headers with Hooker Aerochamber catback - TKO 600 5 speed - Ram HD clutch - Lakewood bell - custom alum. DS - BW 3.27 rear end (until I kill it).
Suspension/chassis - Ground Control Weight jacks - Tokico shocks/struts - UMI T/A, LCAs and relos, panhard, SFCs - Jamex STB - "LS1" front brakes/stock PBRs in back.
...that's most of the marquis parts most of you guys really wanna know about. Obviously there are COUNTLESS little pieces like the Racetronix pump and hotwire kit and the Painless dual fan controller...and gazillion others too numerous to list. Interior is all from Hawk's. It's a Beechwood car originally, but it's been refreshed. Plastics, seatcovers, dashpad...and CARMotorsports mats. ...and then all the little details that get overlooked. Custom rocker emblems, custom pinstripes, 4th gen window sweeps, 4th gen dual fan setup, polished wheels, front grill insert, FUNCTIONAL hood louvers, and on and on and on. I've got a ton of pics on my Iroc FB page (link in my sig) as well as most of the build on the engine/trans and Holley EFI. LOTS of details there not in THIS write up.

Congrats. Beautiful car. I like the way it has a stock appearance on the outside yet you've done great things under the hood! Fantastic work and great photography.

Congratulations, Abubaca! Beautiful car, and I love how you kept a TPI system on your 383 build. Very deserving car for COTM and a great representation for thirdgens.

Again, I really appreciate all the high fives and thumbs up. I'm also glad to see some of you guys liking that I've kept a fairly stock appearance and that I've kept the TPI. Wasn't sure how the "stock...but not quite stock" theme would play out. It wasn't always easy keeping it the way I have. Going with a stronger intake is SO tempting, and even now I search for larger 16" tires. If only 275/45/16 were more readily available!!!!!!
Again guys...REALLY....thank you!

congrats!! love the car for a lot of reasons.
hey, what kind of exhaust tips are those? they look like mine (hooker dual angle cut quad tips) but slightly different. mine might need replacing in the future and I like the way yours look almost the same

Did you paint the car? If you did, what color did you go with? It looks fantastic!

Re: June 2017 COTM **Winner**
Nope. Stock bright red. Don't have the color code off hand, but it's factory. It's not the original paint however. When I bought in 98 it had been painted at some point. I also had it compounded/polished a few years ago which almost LOOKED like a new paintjob.

Congrats man! It looks even better in person.I've talked to you a few times at the local Cars and Coffee in town and I bought a few parts from you a couple of years ago.Seeing your IROC definitely gives me inspiration to get mine done.
