This thread is for October 2017 COTM **Nominations** PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE COTM NOMINATION RULES BEFORE PROCEEDING TO NOMINATE A MEMBER’S RIDE FOR COTM.
REMEMBER, WE MUST PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE CONTEST SO THAT THE MOST DESERVING MEMBER WINS.
This thread is a Nomination Thread to nominate cars that will compete for this month's Car of the Month honor. The 12 (or less) most popularly nominated cars will be compiled into a *Voting Thread* in a couple of weeks. If you do not nominate a member's car for COTM, you can still second or third (fourth, fifth, so on) someone else's nomination. Cars must have at least a second nomination in order to make the Voting Thread.
Do not nominate your own car. Your car must be nominated by another TGO Member.
Do not ask your wife, husband, friends, extended family, etc. to register as TGO Members for the purpose of nominating your car.
Do not nominate more than one car.
Do not use multiple member accounts to nominate your own car or to nominate multiple cars.
This is not a picture thread. Post only one (1) good photo of the car you wish to nominate. Do not use unrealistic, overly-processed images.
You must post a picture with your nomination. This must be a full-sized picture (or at the very least, a pic or thumb that enlarges into a full-sized picture when you click on it).
Correctly identify the user name of the member who you nominate.
Correctly identify the year and model/trim of the car you nominate.
Do not nominate cars that are not in a high quality, finished state.
And if you are nominated, please DO go out and take an abundance of good quality photos of your ride (multiple angles, interior, engine) and make them publicly accessible (for example via a photo album in your public profile or some sort of hyperlink to your photo album.)
*****This Month's Criteria*****
OPEN SEASON
Any very high quality, finished, stock or modified 1982-92 Camaro or Firebird.
Kymee*****1989 Firebird Formula 350*****September 2016 COTM Winner
To tell the truth, that 84 Z28 was on it's way to the scrapyard. Rust had permeated the firewall and inner fender interface and there was no effective means of repair. It ended up on fire after I was attempting to cut out a reusable part of the floor pan as a replacement for the one in the 86 IROC I had purchased. Little did I know there was a fuel line that crossed the transmission tunnel (it was a carbed 305). Once I sliced up that portion of the pan, a significant amount of gasoline was released and when I set my cut off wheel back into the steel, the sparks lit it off. It didn't take long for the flames to reach 20' into the air. My house also became involved.
Live and learn I guess. And now back to your regularly scheduled COTM nomination thread. (Thanks for the indulgence Linson. Keep up the good work).
I'd like to nominate chazman's 1989, G92, 5 speed, N10, DX3, IROC-Z
Nice and clean!
Bob, thanks buddy for the nomination. But this car has already won COTM in the past, and I'd like to give someone else a chance, so I'd like to respectfully bow out.

I know one that hasn't won yet.I'd like to nominate Bob88GTA's Beautiful 85 TA
mantaguy and DynoDave,
I appreciate the nomination and the second nomination....I am thrilled and I thank you both!!
I would also like to bow out for October Car of the Month. My 88 GTA won in March and I would like to afford other members out there a chance to participate this month.
Maybe next year we can give it a shot.
Thanks again!

I'd like to nominate jeremyB and his 87 Iroc Z. He is a fairly new and young member and is very active.
This is identical to my 87 5-speed that I bought in 1994 with 26k miles.. it got totaled from a rear end hit in 2001 with 110k miles and still looked like that and ran like the day I got it..
Hey guys thanks!!!...I'm not sure if it matters...but I went to a car show an hour down the road from me this weekend. I had an 87 Olds 442 WITH T-tops parked behind me...the gentlemen had a Vietnam veterans ball cap on. I introduced myself briefly and then told him "thank you for your service, I'v been in the NC guard for 12 years...what was your job in Vietnam"...its interesting how service member veterans seem to always be guarded about there experiences...but however during this car show and the situation, they seemed to be more open about certain things. I asked him where he was stationed. He said Saigon...well that was easy for me as a historian of wars...I said...were you involved in the Tet offensive, he said yes....then to my amazement...said yeah...we thought everything was hunky dorry during it...and it wasent a big deal. Our bunker took a direct hit...my buddy died and I got shot...I was in the hospital for 9 months he said. Had the purple heart on his license plate to prove it. I didnt say sorry...they hate hearing that. I just said...yeah...you guys fought in the real wars...he said yepp. We kept chatting about his car etc and then naturally broke away from conversation.
Then it was at the awards ceremony and a older gentlemen was sitting at our table with us...started to speak to him...come to find out he was an A-6 Intruder mechanic! One of my favorite acft...we spoke for quite some time...he did 40 years in the national guard, served in nam as well! Super great guy...it was a really humbling experience all the vets there. And while I'm sure a lot of ppl on this site served...some of us have PTSD and adjusting to the civilian life can be a challenge and sometimes difficult to transition to. It was nice knowing that some of these vets were able to find a release and comfort in there cars, and that to the average person this does not mean much, its a big benefit to them and ppl like me. Thats one reason I got my car...I honestly just get tired of talking about the same things over and over again with my buddies etc etc...my IROC-Z has helped me a lot with making new friendships etc.... I hope to continue to build friendships on here and get to know the great ppl of this site!
I appreciate those of you who respectfully bowed out in the interest of seeing some new blood get the focus. Class acts for sure.
Please sort out picture sizing issues before making nominations in the future. I cannot put together a respectable thread with pictures this size next to full sized pics:
