Re: My 92z Ls swap
Does anyone know the technical name of this piece? Its the rubber part that attaches to the front chin spoiler. Whoever had this off before destroyed the holes and had drilled into the old spoiler on it. Do i need it, because my actual air dam is still there? Sorry the pictures arent the greatest my phone was acting up.

Re: My 92z Ls swap
Front air dam, it helps stabilize the spoiler and help the flow of air. The screw holes are actually metal clips that clip on, not the plastic itself. You can go to a paint place and get some new clips for a couple bucks. I would run it, but the car can run without it.

Thanks I appreciate it. You cant really see in the pics but the holes where the clips are supposed to go are trashed. I would prefer to keep it on, I was going to try and get a replacement but ol google isn't coming threw this time lol. so im going to have to get creative with it.
Re: My 92z Ls swap
I still have mine, but it's not installed. I haven't had any issues with airflow, nor with the front spoiler (although I'm thinking of making some braces to go in it's place just in case). I have no intentions of actually bolting it back up as I can't use it once I start the turbo build. All the clips are still there, iirc.
If you want it, PM me and we can work out something.

Hey man thanks, I actually did some extremely nice hillbilly engineering myself and got it back on nice and clean lol. But I appreciate it.

Re: My 92z Ls swap
Couple more pictures now that its clean. Not too many updates, ive just been working on getting it tuned. I was having trouble with hptuners but realized i didnt update with their latest version so pretty sure they was my issue. Thanks again for the help with that Braz
Re: My 92z Ls swap
Clean! Love the black hood.
No worries, man. I got really sidetracked this weekend with multiple emergency fixes on the other camaro's in the family, so I apologize for not getting you those screenshots. When I get home from work today, I'll do my best to send them!

Re: My 92z Ls swap
Thanks, I appreciate it. I think ive got it figured out as far as hptuners goes, my ve table is just all over the place right now. I thought I was getting somewhere with it today then I took a look at my 3d graph and it looked like something you would see on wall street lol..there were so many spikes...so more work to do.
Re: My 92z Ls swap
I haven't even messed with my VE table yet (been busy doing... you guessed it, work on other Camaro's lol) and I KNOW It's going to be messy as all get out.
Weather has turned colder, and all of a sudden I'm getting rich codes popping a lot quicker AND a random misfire code... fun fun.

Yeah that sucks, I lucked out with a lot of mine other than the coil pack harness being shot lol. But as far as tuning goes a lot of the idle and drivability stuff is pretty well set. http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...de-(w-pictures) I used that to get most of everything set up as far as idleing ect, and it worked out pretty well. Ive got a little buck out of 1st but I think its more a timing issue than anything. if I can get the ve table dialed in ill be good to go. Hopefully I can have it straight in the next few days because I want to be able to get some good break in miles on the engine before the autocross event im planning on hitting up at the end of the month. So we will see. But hopefully you can get some time to work on yours man!

Re: My 92z Ls swap
Well its been a bit since ive posted anything. I have mainly been focused on tuning. Which i think i actually have down except for just a couple little things. But it drives great so thats what im happy about. Only major thing done lately was finally upgrading the front brakes. I just went with the ls1 brakes. And should have done it a while back, it stops so much quicker now. I got the brackets and hubs from bigbrakeupgrade. Which scott is awesome to work with. I modified my own spindles. In hind site i should have just gotten them from him. Heres a short idle video for everyone.

Re: My 92z Ls swap
Just to add to this not so much an update, but more of a heads up to anyone who decides to do the ls1 brake upgrade. If you have to get new brake hardware/clips ect, get the ac delco brand or what nappa carries. I had a horrible time with the advance auto, and atuozones brake hardware kits. They didn't fit correctly at all causing grinding etc on hard stops and just random noises driving around. the upper and lower carrier clips that the pads ride on in the caliper bracket were too long causing it to rub the rotor and the clip that was supposed to go in the caliper didn't even fit. once I got the ac delco kit I compared it to the other parts I had and was shocked at the difference. I thought I had maybe gotten the wrong parts previously, but they were the correct ones. Put them on and not a single noise now driving normally or under hard braking.

Re: My 92z Ls swap
So the car had been running great all summer then I started having issues with my slave after I had to replace my tick mc under warranty. Anyhow when I put the car in the air the spots I knew that I would need to fix on the body had become horrible compared to when I started driving it. I knew body work would have to be done at some point when I got the car. Well after further inspection of it, it was just shot. Strut towers were bad, subframe was horrible inside quarters and the rear wheel wells, the rear cross member. It was bad. Well as luck would have it i came across an 84 roller that was solid as could be for a great price. So I'm going to do my cage, etc and some suspension upgrades while it's under the knife. I got a set of Detroit speed sfc, and I'm also going to install their quadralink. Rest the ls swap parts are staying the same. Other than rewiring everything.
Ill swap all the 92 gfx over to. Hoping to have it back on the road by this summer, and be able to take it to lsfest next year to play.

Re: My 92z Ls swap
These are just a few of the bad spots. I'll add pics as I go, almost have the 92 stripped, then I'll get started on the fab/body work. All new brake and fuel lines too. Going through withdraws not being able to drive it, but it will be completely worth it.

With that much rust I think you made the right choice to start with another body. What color will the new car be when you are done?

Re: My 92z Ls swap
Thanks, at 1st I thought maybe I could just use the parts but when I found everything else it just seemed like the right choice. Pearl white is the color I'm going with. I had thought about sunset metallic orange or vibrant blue, but I really like the black and white color scheme. I'm also swapping the red interior for black. I like the red but about every 3rd gen camaro I've owned has been red lol. Need something different this go round.

I don't know if this answers your question, but a plastic piece detached from my 89 Iroc years ago. The engine started running real hot after that. It was even at high speeds. I bought a replacement plastic piece from the dealership, and it fixed the problem. It must deflect air into the engine compartment.

Re: My 92z Ls swap
Progress is being made, but it is slow going. I have been working on stripping the old paint off the 84, and getting it ready for the fab and paint work. I have aquired most of my parts just have all the nickle and dime stuff to get. 2 major upgrades that were a little unplanned but couldnt pass up, 1 is a ford 9 inch with a trutrac, and....decided to ditch the ls1 in favor of an l92/ls3. The ls3 should be a pretty stout motor, it has a set of lingenfelter heads, and a comp cam. also all arp bolts through out. so it should be a blast once it hits the road.

The LS3 is a nice upgrade. Looks like you have lot of work to do, but glad to see you are still plugging away at it.

Re: My 92z Ls swap
Yeah, im pretty excited about it. Ill post up the cam specs when i have the card in front of me because i dont remember them off the top of my head. And yes i have a TON left, its been tricky the last few months trying to get everything done. It took forever to get eveything off my 92. Im on vacation rest of the week so i hope to have the paint completely stripped and to at least get started on the cutting and welding. With any luck once i get started on the fab work it will go a little quicker than it has been.

Re: My 92z Ls swap
Finally making some headway, still a long ways to go. But got the subframe connectors in. Which are super nice. Just got started on installing the quadralink. Once you get the initial measurements and cuts it goes pretty quick. Detroit speeds instructions are reallly well written, so it makes it a much simpler job. Just have to finish that then on to the cage then paint. Also got rid of the comp cam that was in the ls3 and went with one of texas speeds newer grinds, so should make for some good noise/fun. Just waiting on my rear coilovers and a couple other things to get here and I should be good on all the big stuff. Hope to have it back on the road in the next few months.

Glad to see you are still working on it. What did you use on the engine bay and interior, looks kinda like truck bed liner?

It's been a while since I updated this. All the cutting and welding is done asides finishing up my gas tank. All the last few months has consisted of has been sanding lol. And making a gauge panel for my speedhut gauges. But everything but my hood, fenders and front bumper are painted as of today. Rest should be done soon. But the good news is I can get on with assembling it now
will add pictures shortly, having issues at the moment from my phone

Could you please tell me about your brake setup? Trying to get ideas for when I start my build. Right now I'm considering a motion raceworks manual master but I'm not 100% sure what to go with for the discs.
