Ignition timing
Hey guys, I have a quick question on ignition timing. I have an 86 Camaro 305 tpi, what should the base timing be? I set it roughly at 8 btdc and the car runs fine. But when I shut the car off and plug the bypass electronic spark connector back in, and start the car it will run for about 10 15 seconds then die. what could cause this?

Re: Ignition timing
6*BTDC with the EST wire disconnected.
That year is pretty mild on the timing, so 8*BTDC wouldn't make a huge difference in the running of the engine.
Are you getting any SES codes? Any weird SES light flickering or anything?

Re: Ignition timing
No just the one for the ignition wire being disconnected. Code 42? I think I can't remember but other than that no other codes present
