VanNuys Plant

So we're going to California again for our anual vacation...
It's been 20 years ago since we've been there, so a lot will have changed since our last trip!
Anyway, we'll be driving Route 66 from Gallup to Santa Monica, we'll be staying for one night in the WigWam Motel in Rialto...
I figured out, it's not to far away from VanNuys, where my 1988 Pontiac Firebird Formula was build, (it's in The Netherlands, Europe since 1993 btw...).
I know the real plant isn't there anymore, it's a shopping mall by the name "The Plant" now.
We're going there anyway, just to get the "feeling" ,I hope you all know what I mean, I think I probably will never get the opportunity to go there again in my life..

So while we're there, is there anything to watch for, GM related, or is it just the shopping mall?

Thanks for any information!

Re: VanNuys Plant

The Training center and the Design Studio are the only assets that GM has left near the location of the old Van Nuys plant site today.

As an aside GM also maintains direct legacy operations at a GM (SPO) Parts warehouse #2 in West Chester, Ohio that branched off during the Norwood operational era. This location is still represented by UAW Local 674- the old Norwood plant UAW union local.
