cheap LS oil primer

I looked around trying to find a cheap way to prime the ls1 engine since it had been sitting for a while without oil in the oil pan (I assume it would still have enough oil in the pump to work but I wanted to make sure). I know I'm not the first person to do this but thought I would post it. All in about $35 depending on what you have laying around. I would advice against using an old sprayer to avoid putting something you shouldn't into the oil.

The fittings, M16-1.5 male to 1/4NPT female, 1/4 NPT to 1/4 hose barb. 3 hose clamps. and a tire Schrader valve to make it easier. Make sure the barb fitting will fit the hose of the sprayer you buy.

Drill a hole and mount the schrader valve so you don't have to pump the bottle up, you can just use your air compressor.

I decided to use the trigger, but you don't have to you could just depressurize it before you unscrew the fitting when done. If I used this often I would of bought a swivel end to make screwing the fitting in easier and a ball valve to turn it on/off.

The finish product I went with the 2 gallon sprayer so there was plenty of air space. Make sure to clean out any shavings from drilling the hole for the valve.

Re: cheap LS oil primer

That’s pretty much how I built mine.
It works great for not a lot of $$.
