To primer, or not to primer. That is the question.

Sorry for the lame topic. Heh.
Anyways I want to get my Firebird painted soon, so I am doing all the prep work on it, degreasing, sanding, filler, primer etc etc...
My car has a Van Nuys paint job. The clearcoat is almost all gone.
I only have a few dents in the car. One big one, and a few little dings and what not. My question is, Do I have to primer the whole car, or just the places where I put the filler in the dents and dings and other problematic areas. I'm taking it to maaco to get it painted red. The car is red, but a little brighter red is what I want. So it won't be much of a change in color. Thanks

you can just primer the areas where you repaired with bondo and anywhere you went to metal.
