84 Trans Am 500LE

Saw this at the local pick a part today. Cant help but feel some type of way. Don"t know much about it except it's 1 of 500. On the quarter panel it says 500 LE 1 of 500. Never heard of this model. I can imajine it fresh off the lot man. Sad whoever let this one get away.

I have had 2 500 LE cars over the years (still have 1). They were both 84s, but they only came as base firebird and not Trans Ams. Looks like the spoiler is already gone on the one pictured.

I've never even heard of those. That's interesting. What's also interesting to me is what people use to prop up hoods in the junkyard.

I'll take 'Sticker Packages' for $100, Alex.

This sticker package suddenly makes a white 84 Firebird base model somehow more valuable than one without stickers.

If you go on LKQ. You can see it in the back seat.

NHRA-Trans-Am:

Can you post a photo of your Firebird 500LE SPID label?

I ask because I am wondering if there is an RPO designation for the 500LE.

Or was the 500LE similar to the 1989+ XS and SSA Firebirds, which, as far as I know, did not have an RPO designation?

This. To the best of my knowledge it's another regional dealer sticker package.

Re: 84 Trans Am 500LE

Dealer package. Good information.

Did all 1984 500LEs have White exterior with blue stripes and interior?

Any truth to the rumor about the same 500LE package in 1983 in Silver exterior and red stripes?

Re: 84 Trans Am 500LE

The only ones I've seen have been white/blue 84s, pretty sure they all have the odd spoiler too. Not sure if it's the same as the MSE cars, or just looks sorta similar. Most of the pics I have seen date back to the 90's when picture quality wasn't very good.

Don't have a pic handy, but I am almost certain there was not an RPO code for the option. Just the spoiler, decals, key chain and numbered dash plaque.

They were made in 83 and 84. 83s were silver (I dont recall the decal color) and 84s were white with blue interior. The exterior decals are more black than blue. My 82 is an MSE and the spoiler on the 500LEs are similar but are much lower profile.

Re: 84 Trans Am 500LE

It wasn't entirely a sticker package since the spoiler was unique. I purchased a reproduction spoiler from Wings West many years ago and I think it looks really good on my 1984 Trans Am

Re: 84 Trans Am 500LE

Just looked at this thread from the "Related Topics" list at the bottom of the page... Reminded me there was a dark blue 500LE running around town when we first moved down here. Was a pretty rough example IIRC.
