I know a few of us have been itching to get out there.

FbodTrek and I for instance.

I know Zap has been meaning to go, espically now with his new suspension mods.

We need to get Mike out there too. (but we know he won't race his car because he is scared of how slow it is :P)

Hey, I'll gladly take donations for the 12-bolt !

And, I have a little fun on street cause as long as it's spinning and not even remotely hooking, the stock 10-bolt "should" last awhile longer.

Scott's one to talk........ he cant even drive his pile to store and it's been like 3 years!! I can still drive mine arround. And when he does get his running (one day......), he's allready all setup with a 12-bolt, suspension and chassis mods etc.....

I'll go to the damn track when I'm good and ready. You guys aren't the ones that have to pay for parts (like axles etc...) when **** breaks..... and I dont have the funds at the moment to fix it if something did happen.

So bite me!

Same ole' excuse... You'll spin at the track just like you do on the street. Just dont launch so hard if thats what your concerned with man. Sure you wont run your full potential, but it'll be ballpark, and you'll have fun doing it. Or you could wait 12 years till you get a 12 bolt

Fund my project or wait till I can afford to do so. It's that simple.

There's a ton of people that are buggin' for my track times. If people are in such a hurry and they dont want to give me the money or time to finish my project, then they should build exactly what I built and run their car at the track.

I'm in no hurry and I have plenty of fun when I occasionally have time to drive the car.

I hope so!! You have more motor / gear / suspension work (more money) in your car.

But, if I just happen to whoop that ***, just think how pissed you'd be!

Either way, you just need to get that damn thing running so we can cruise to the shows. You want me to call Neil so you can get a rebuild kit?

I dont have anything to worry about, caue it'll never happen

I talked to Neil about the rebuild kit. Its like 92 bucks for the kit, but I'll need to get a few parts re-surfaced as well. I've already got an in-the-box TransGo, and my busted tranny is supposed to have a bad *** servo, and some other crap in it. If the weather is halfway decent this weekend I might drop my tranny and see if I can get it looked at by someone for cheap, see what da problem is. If its minor, I'll just repair that one, and stick it in only after its bench tested....

You're right, it probably will never happen. That's because you're scared to race me and, it will be another 3 years before you get the thing running anyways!

Just giving ya shizzle!

Mike:

I seriously doubt you're gonna have any problem with your rearend. I talked to my boss man and he said that they're good till about 600 ft pounds. I SERIOUSLY doubt you're anywhere close to that. That, and you have a stick, slip that clutch in dude! I know a guy with a good Ford Rear for free if you "break" anything (Don't think it'll happen...).

I dunno about 600, maybe with aftermarket parts stuffed in there, but I think the stock one will hold just fine, especailly if he launches soft. Oh well, a'int no swayin him, we'll all have to either:

A. Pitch in money for a 12 bolt
B. Wait till he can afford one
C. Make jokes that he's "Skeered"
D. B & C Only
E. All of the Above

I vote for answer D

I've personally seen more than a few LS-1 f-body's (I'm talking about lid and cat-back cars which only put down 350 rwtq ) snap stock 10 bolt rears at baytown.

I'm not wasting my time and / or money on doing the job twice. I'll remove the 10-bolt to install the new 12-bolt. I wont put another crappy ten-bolt back in there.

And I vote ( A. ) !

Dude, JR is offering to give you a disc rear to PUNISH. I'll remove your old one and install the new one for you if it means you'll goto the track.

You gonna pay for the slicks (or ET streets), the tow truck bill for the way home, and any other damage that may occur at the track from shooting the axles out into the stands?

Slicks? That's not necessary. Just drive it like you drive it on the street and you'll be fine with your street tires. I can see the future...The next post will be something like "Whats the point without slicks".... And I highly doubt you'll be shooting axles into the stands.

I'll goto the track when I can afford the 12-bolt and some tires. And I'll have no excuses at all if the car doesn't run in the 11's. I'll still be happy with a low 12, but it wouldn't surprise me if it dips into the 11's.

"Ya'lls just gonna have ta wait".

Deal with it.

End of story.

Peace out.

LOL, a'ight man, I guess we'll stop messin with ya. Maybe one of these days we'll swap MY 12 bolt onto your car and take it to the track, since thats the only way you'll get there in the next 10 or 12 years We all know how much use my mine is getting, I could use broomsticks for axles at this point, lol.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish, and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and goodwill, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down on thee with great vengence and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers, and you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengence upon thee.
Enough said.

Uh, Id like to go. I think I will go to Sealy (1/8 mile) first to get some new baseline times. My car is finally back together. I have no idea where I will be now. Since the last time I raced Ive done Superram plenum and base, SLP headers, removed the smog stuff, built TH350 Transmission, and Catco cats. Ive got a stupid transmission fluid leak due to the moron who put in my tranny didn't get the dipstick o ring in. Very soon I'll be at HRP, would love to see you guys there (Mike too,

HRP is just too far out of the way for us. Looks like we may have a bunch of us at the 1/8 mile track (Houston Motorsports Park)... the new one just off of beltway 8. We are probabally gonna be there 8:30 ish.

Well, I made it out there last night. Seemed like it was Import Night or something. Everyone and their dog was there in everything imaginable, getting all happy about 17 second runs. I was in the staging lanes at the time, but my dad and brother said I missed the best wheelie ever. Some guy in a 2nd Gen Camaro pulled the wheels for about 100 yrds, wheels kept getting higher and higher the farther down track he went till finally his bumper was almost dragging, guy lets off, car slams down, shuts down track for 30 minutes while they clean it up.

There were some fast Mustangs out there, 3 new body Stangs from Strictly Performance, all running below 11's it looked like, all super charged or turbod.

I got my 12 second timeslip. 12.8 at 109 with only a 1.9 60' on Nittos. I was launching at 3000-3500, tire pressure at 24 on the last run, zero wheel spin and no chirp in second, car just dead hooked. I'm heading out to the new 1/8 mile track that opened up 5 minutes from my house, try and get some better 60's today.

I head back to Colorado tomorrow. Hope to get a meet together this summer or something and see Mike's car at the track

We had a blast last night at Houston Motorsports Park.

We had 4 thirdgens total that were there. I got some decent runs in. My best times were..

60' : 2.10
1/8 : 9.28
1/8 speed: 74.84 (although my fastest speed was 75.34)

Looks like I was running pretty steady too. According to the 1/8 mile conversion, I should be at 14.4 or so. Too slow for me, but an entire second after I ran at HRP a year ago. This is with zero engine mods, all tuning.

Anyway, my car died on the way back too, I didn't get home until 2:45 in the morning, then I went to eat a Denny's, so it was 3:30.

I am too pissed to look at it this morning though

Congrats on the 12's!

Mike and I pulled my tranny in my driveway today. I didnt crack it open after pulling it out though. I'm thinking about trying to have someone look at it for free or very cheap, see what the problem could be, and if the tranny even has decent parts left in it. Hopefully in a few weeks we can all head out to HRP (Mike, you can ride with me ) I'm not looking forward to putting the tranny back in though, man thats gonna suck.

Steven, did did ya figure out why your car is possesed yet?

Sorta

All I know for sure is, The solenoid is fried, what caused it, i dunno? There was some heat damaged wires, nothing that got penetration though. What's wierd is, he made all those runs last night and it worked just fine, didn't screw up until we got ready to leave. I suppose we have the Race Godz to thank....

Well I went to Sealy as I said I was going to. Saw Barry IROC over there. Looks like we had the Houston drag scene pretty covered from Baytown, to the new one on I45 and out to Sealy. Ran 8.55 to 8.6 with 81+mph which was better. STill sucking on my 60' times, only had one under 2.0.. I don't think I am launching properly yet with the new 2600-2800 stall converter. Seemed like I was spinning quite a bit. I need to let the air pressure down on the NIttos, but I didn't have a way to pump em back up. I think Im going to get one of those Walmart special compressors that plug into the cigarrette lighters and try that next time., Someone told me to use 1.55 times the 1/8mile time to estimate 1/4 mile time. Well 8.55 comes out to lik 13.2 or so. IM happy I guess for now. I improved about .3 to .4 sec in the 1/8 mile!!. Did a lot of mods tho, its like a different car.

We need to get together at the same track tho, next time

Found out what was going on with my car. My starter was fried. The selenoid was so bad that it wasn't even making a connection, which is why I couldn't start the car later in the night.

I also had to replace the alternator, it was charging at a low voltage.

Oh well, all is good now.... for the most part.

TexasLT-1 - Congrats on the new record!! what was your 1/8th mile time on that 12.80 pass???

Steven - 2 words.......... (speed density) !!

Larry Dunlap -

You have a PM. Also, it's 1.57 x 1/8th mile time to calculate the 1/4 time. But that's just a close estimation. Some cars are quicker on the first half or second half of the track (example.... TPI's better in the 1/8, LS-1's quicker on the last half of the track). But, the formula gives you a rough idea of what the car should do. Congrats on the car, I bet she runs good!

Willis - congrats on the new record and get that centerforce clutch!!

Scizzle_92RS - Don't know what's going on this weekend yet, I might not be able to make it to the track with ya. We'll see. Holla!@
