Finally done
Sorry guys/gals, again I missed a meet. I tried on Friday to finish up the rebuild of my steering column. I just finished buttoning it all up last night
Thanks to the coulm I bought off from CamaroCain, I was able to repair the torn up coulmn. Turns out that I needed to use the locking plate, ball bearrings, and the slotted cup thingy. I tried usuing the upper steering shaft, but the donor shaft was too short. I had to use the longer shaft that originally came with the airbag equipted car. The shaft on my cars was a little jacked up because the previous owner didn't pay attention to how the coulmn should have been reassembled. The previous owner put the coulmn together with out the upper race and burred the shaft.
For those of you who wondered about using an aftermarket wheel on a 91 or 92, it will work ( I just had to massage the yellow airbag part that sits under the OEM wheel.
I was in a hurry to get this done, so I bought a the least expensive wheel I coould find. My origibnal wheel lost all the leather at the top of the wheel, and peices of foam would stick to my hand.
There is a slight gap between the kit and the coulmn, but it's not noticable unless your looking for it. I'll try to post up some pics later.
