September Monthly Meet Headcount + "Guess How Many Thirdgens Will Show Up"!!!
Please post here iF U are planning to attend the September Monthly Meet.
ALSO, PLEASE POST HERE IF U ARE NOT PLANNING TO ATTEND THE MONTHLY!!!
Maybe we can start getting some ideas about what we can do to increase attendence if we know why thirdgenners are not going to show up!!!
Question:Is attending these Monthlys not all that important, because there is always next month?
ALSO, Post your guess as far as how many thirdgens will show up at the Monthly. (cars only--not car owners) We may or may not still do the "throw a dollar in the pot" for this --depends on how many want to continue this part of it. We started doing this just for fun, but if we continue the dollar/pot deal, IT DOES PARTIALLY PAY FOR YOUR Food/BEER/GAS!!!

After I got through doing some work to Mrs. ZAP RS, it needed to be taken for a test drive, so we deceided to cruise to Otto's to eat some BBQ and check out the Sat night show (which is probably the show we will cruise to after the September Monthly).
Althoughwe go by there every now and then, to my surprise, there was 3 thirdgens there I had never seen before (along with a bunch of cool customs and a bunch of Mustangs and 4th gens)
One of them was a kind of darkerblue, maybe Aqua colored thirdgen Trans Am, that was absolutely beautiful. DEFINATELY SHOW QUALITY, and the guy does show it frequently. It belongs to Bill West--president of the Trans Am club of Hou and I think it was his wife (sorry can't remember her name). They also had a cool 4th gen TA. If they don't go to a show in Wallace, they will try and make the Monthly Meet, or the show at Otto's afterwards anyway. I hope they can make it, so U guys can see how nice a thirdgen can look!!! They are registered here on the board as ROARZ, but do not get on here much lately. Maybe that will change?
There was also a guy named Ron that had an 83 TA with factory crossfire injection, I think it is called (2 carbs staggered intake design). I have only seen pics of cars like this. First time I have ever seen one in person. He is a regular at Ott's and will try and be there next Sat and maybe make the monthly before the show.
Sure hope we can get a good showing at Otto's. Way too many 4th gens there-- we need a show with 3rd gens there!

Check.........check........test...........1......2.......3..........4
Suppose they gave a war and nobody came..........(Old peace, love, and dope poster from the seventies)
I still like ESC's idea about having mod parties, but for right now, IT"S TOO F***ING HOT!!!!!!!!!!! I know it's a big sacrifice, but get off your lazy *****, and come to the nice INDOOR,AIR-CONDITIONED September meeting (my car won't make it, or my TPS sensor is cracked is a ****-poor excuse for not being there. FIX THE CAR)
So far, we have Me, Craig, Sue, and Tristen.
Anyone else brave enough to show up?

We'll call it the Hou. area thirdgen monthly bar and pub tour!
Both places for Sept. monthly, Hooter's and Sam's Boat are in technically in Stafford- -don't know if that rule applies there or not. May be something to consider in the future!!!
There is also outside seating!!!!

Knowing the type person that Wheelspin is, he would probably, say to take the money he won at the last meet, and donate it to the RED CROSS!

I got my starter back last night, so after I put it back on Sat morn, I should be rolling!
If anybody ever needs any starter or alternator work--SPRING BRANCH ALT. + STARTER --GESSNER+ HEMPSTEAD (1 block south of 290 and Gessner) is the place to go!. Hollar at me first and I'll call Cury and let him know U are coming and he will give a discount to any and all members of the Hou. area thirdgen.org!!!!

U know, with 44 people on the Hou area list, sure seems like we could get motre than 7 or 8 together at one time.
I realize that there are some people we do not hear from anymore, and there are some cars not running at the moment, and that some people do not post very often (they are just lerking in the shadows--BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
).
Also realize that with the price of gas that some may not want to drive across town--unless U are a true diehard supporter of our motley crew, but if U have never been to one of the Monthly Meets, or it's been a while--COME ON OUT!!! U may actually enjoy it--drink some beer--eat some good food at Sam's Boat--tell lies about how fast your cars are--hang out with other thirdgen lovers--Mass cruise to Otto's BBQ Sat night car show and check out custom cars of all types. WHAT ELSE U GOT TO DO???

Hey I'm getting closer and closer to getting mine done, ill be working on the engine and ripping out the interior tommorow. Hope to have it done in two weeks, I will be at the next meet as long as its not out in BFE.
Just got done wit hthe whole front suspension, painting it and rebuilding it along with the engine bay.... definitely need a paint job before i take it to any meets, probably be the ugliest one there!
Does anyone have a drivers side door or passenger fender they can get me for a really cheap price, they are both pretty bad and just need replacing before i get the paint job done.... probably just get it primered black....
well cant wait to meet all you guys and galls, I already met Mike (1Bad91Z) and the other Tim from the Humble area (cant remember his screen name) and they have both been nice people and willing to help out
hope to see you guys next meet.
Have you decided on a date yet for the Baytown race / meet?
let me know

Will do-those that were there (that show up today--it's a rainy day at the moment and it migh scare off some of the guys) last month--I'll make sure they buy TxLT-1 a beer!
"hmmmmm Bar Run...........Poker Run......??????" Definately a possibility!
There are some different versions of poker runs--maybe we can toss it around and find a version that would work for our motley crew! I'M IN!!!

I know it IS a kinda drizzly/rainy type of day, but u guys kow how Hou weather is. It can be raining in one part of town and not a drop in others. Wait until it's time to leave before U deceide one way or the other!
REMEMBER , THE MEET IS INDOORS AT SAM'S BOAT!
I also realize that some do not like to drive their car in the rain, for whatever reason, but it's only water! Besides some of U guys DO need to wash your car anyway!!!
REGARDLESS; THE MONTHLY MEET DOES NOT HAVE A RAIN DATE AND IT WILL NOT BE CALLED OFF BECAUSE OF RAIN!
Barring death oe dismemberment, Sue and I will be there around 4 pm, and I know a few of the diehards will also be there regardless of the weather conditions!
C U THERE

I'm still planning on heading out there. Still raining around my area, but its dieing off it looks like. Trying to decide if I should wash my car or not. Never fails that I will and it will start raining again, but she's pretty dirty right now.
And I'll never turn down a free beer

At the moment the car show at 518 + 146( I think that's the location--AlDixie, correct me if I'm wrong) kinda looks good for the "after the meet" cruise and hang out part, according to the members that live on that side of town. We are not locked into that, so anybody with suggestions PLEASE speak up
We do not have a good location for the meet itself yet. The ideal location would be relatively easy freeway access--relaxed atmosphere-- plenty of parking--drinks/beer at NOT ripoff prices--relatively inexpensive good food--smoking allowed for those of us who still have not kicked the habit.
I will start a thread for the Oct meet in a few days, and we will GIT-R-DONE!

AS ALWAYS, THE DATE IS NOT ETCHED IN STONE!!! IF THERE IS AN EVENT ( such as a big car show--a racing event--Whatever) THAT WE WANT TO TIE THE MONTHLY IN WITH, THAT WE MAY NOT BE AWARE OF ---PLEASE, PLEASE. PLEASE, SPEAK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Roarz--since U guys are into the show circuit--as well as OWEN (where U been lately anyway?) Where do U hear about the different shows--any particular web site or something?

OK EVERYBODY--IF U DO NOT HAAVE A PROBLEM WITH POSTING YOUR PHONE NUMBER, I WILL ADD IT TO THE LIST OF HOU. AREA THIRDGENNERS IN THE STICKIED POST.
Xtreme--there was 6 that showed--not bad considering the rainy day that it was--and as it usually turns out, we did not have a drop at the monthly or the show afterwards!!!
Even picked up 2 more at the show. There was Ron who has the red 83 "Crossfire injectiuon" Bird, and there was another guy that saw his and went home and got his white version of the same. I must be falling down in my old age--I forgot to give the second guy with the bird a flyer for our group!
October 8th is the American Pontiac Association Fall show in Galveston at Pier 21. Don't know if I'll be able to make your meet, but if you like to show, I highly recommend this one. Hey, it's Pontiac people!!!! The show is open to all classes of cars, but you see some pretty nice Pontiacs here.

There's that Mobile post! I knew I saw it somewhere, no one believed me...again.

Hey talk it up, let us folks who COULDN'T show know what happened.
Was it really the rain? What do you do when it's Monday morning, time to go to work, and it's RAINING?
Alright, these cars don't do great in the rain if you got no tread left, and some have been brought to show quality, understood! GMan intentionally has no tread, period. I wouldn't want to drive near a Houston air conditioner like that.
But if it's just wipers, you need that anyway! If it's tread, you'll find guys at the meet who may sell you a set of tires cheap! Or at least hook you up. Jeez, I drove a truck to the last meet (yeah, I parked out of the way). Had a good time too. And I'm NOT a social critter.
SO, WHO DID SHOW? Tristan, did you get your beer?

Tristan, Barry, Craig and Sue, Al and his wife, Gary(Gman) and Laura(?), and ESC (Eric). I think that's it. After we went to Otto's and hung out till 9. There wasn't a big turn out at Otto's but there were some cool folks there. A guy with an 83(?) Cross-fire Firebird. A new recruit!
P.S. Tristan got his beer!

The Sept monthly was quality, not quanity. We hung out in the parking lot for about an hour looking at each others car and general BS. Went in got some beers and pretty good food. Ate and sat around for about an hour just BSing.
The list of people that showed that Barry posted sounds right. Besides Ron the guy with the 83 Crossfire, another guy showed up with another white 83 Crossfire. To see 2 OEM Crossfire's was very unusual--I'd never seen one in person before--just pics.
No rain at the meet or afterwards at the car show--low turnout because of the threating, but clearing skys.
I'm still trying to figure out who the mystery thirdgen. There was a teal 91/92 that pulled up and parked while we were in the restaurant--opened the door--sat there a minute and then left!
HEY WICKEDTHIRDGENS WAS THAT U?
