There were either 14 or 15 cars from our group, at the track Fri night--10 were racing and the rest were watching.
With it raining cats and dogs Sat, I didn't really expect anybody to show up at Bear Creek park, but I went out there anyway, knowing how Hou weather can be, and I was hoping to hook up with 3.1evecandy sat before he left to go back to Ark, so I could give him the shirts he ordered. As it was we had 5 cars show up Sat--Sue and I, Irocaholic, Barry,Vortecbird (from Orange Tx) and his dad, K's89rs and his girlfriend (from Ft. Worth) and xtremeirocz without his car.
Sunday we had hoped for a much bigger turnout, but I guess those who said they were going to attend the Meet/BBQ could not make it Sunday. We had a total of 8 cars and Jay (xtremeirocz) and Owen from ARD showed up about 4:30. Sue and I, Barry, ESC, Larry Dunlap, Irocaholic and his girlfriend, Vortecbird and his dad, Fatal88 (both Tim and Terry), and 1bad91z and a buddy of his.
I was a little bummed out that we did not have a bigger turnout! Actually a lot bummed! With all the time and effort that I put into this one, and going the "extra mile" as they say, and to have this low a car count was very disappointing, but when mother nature rains on our parade, there's not much U can do about it!
It does make me wonder if all the effort is worth it, and if I really want to go through all this again, when it comes time for the next one. Last edited by Zap Racing; Nov 28, 2005 at 04:02 PM.

Well, I tried to post a pic of the Sunday Meet/BBQ, and I get the message that says that the file is too big. I have no idea how to reduce them to the correct size.
I have a whole bunch of pics , so if somebody can to whatever is necessary to post them or post them on a web site , I can email them to U.
Let me know!
Craig

Craig, Let me be the first to tell You I think you did a great job. I can only Imagine How much time and effort goes in to organizing one of these things, Not to mention the time driving around town (ie my shop, t shirt shop, etc. etc.). The weather really Messed everything up, not to mention the HRP stuff. Just wanted to tell you I appreciate the effort.
I can understand if your bummed out. If your tired of doing all the organizing see if some one else will step up to the plate next time and give you a breather. If not, Keep going your doing a good job.
Sorry I could not make it out Sunday. I helped Mike with my car ALL day Friday just to make it to HRP by 10:00. I then played Poker all weekend and Sunday afternoon I had to spend some "quality time" with the wife. She does not think quality time is looking at 3rd gen cars.
If you still got my shirt send me a PM and we can figure out How I can get it and pay you for it.

You did a great job organizing this thing Craig. But no one can plan for the weather months in advance. Metorologists are LUCKY to get it right 2 DAYS in advance!
If you are a little burned out, I can understand. But as the person who has always stepped up to the plate, and our moderator, you are automatically the first person everyone is going to turn to when thinking about these things. So rather that stepping down, maybe you should consider delegation.
I'm sure that there are plenty of people who would step up to the plate if asked to handle some aspect of a meet. Myself for instance. I don't have the time (or more importantly the authority) to handle the whole thing. But I would do something if asked/told how I could help.
So I know your bummed that hte attendance was a little lean, but I think that the race turnout was GREAT. In HFB's hayday they would get 10% to show up at a track event (Car Club Bash at Seally). So I would call 15 a good number.
BTW, if Seally does open up again, and they re-start the CCB we should start going!

Yeah, the weather sure killed it.
My wife and I both had the day off on Saturday in order to make it to the gathering. In fact, we both had requested the day off of work a month in advance just to be sure that we would not miss it.
Believe us, the people who are really bummed about the meet were the ones who weren't able to go!
Since the meet was moved to Sunday, that did not work out for Tarah and I at all. We both had to work that day.

I had my car at the show, but was a little late to make the pics I guess.
Hopefully the new year will bring me a job and I can get the car wrapped up to make the track meet next time.
All in all I had a good time and it was good seeing everyone!
Shirts came out nice, Thanks Craig!

I realize this may be a stupid question........but what do U have to do to resize pics anyway? Do U need a special software program or what?

There are lots of different ways. I will probably use an old (free) program called L-view pro. It is quick and easy and allows you to specify different compression settings for jpegs.
I used it on 2 of the pictures I posted (1st and 4th I think) to cut there size in half.

In response to me whinning about organizing these meets, I certintly was not trying to "play the sympathy card" or fish for compliments (although I do appreciate the kind words). I have often been accused of "wearing my feelings on my cuffs" as the expression goes. I guess it just got to me more than I realized, and was "venting" as it is called nowadays......Sorry.....it won't happen again!
I do enjoy putting these meets together, since I have done stuff like this all my life in other venues, and I'm sure I will continue to do so in the future. Just wish we could get bigger turnouts to some of these events.
I keep thinking back to the 2003/2004 gathering/BBQ/Cruise we had where we had close to 30 thirdgens and a few 2nd and 4th gens show up, and wonder why we can't duplicate it, or at least come close.
Maybe by changing things around a little, like we are talking about in other threads, we can get bigger turnouts at whatever we try to put together.

From the past gathering that I had a hand in organizing, I've noticed that the turnout is better when it is all on the same day. Also PM'ing / e-mailing certain people that have 3rdgens that don't normally attend helps.
I just met a guy that has a 87 or so Iroc, which I'll be tuning, who has never heard of TGO. I sent him a link to the SCB where we all post, so hopefully that will bring us one more member.

Ok, let me say this.. about resizing pics.
If you have windows XP, then the best, BY FAR.. .program to resize pics is the Windows XP Resize PowerToy.

Well, I had a bunch more to post, but can't.
I sent them to ESC, but they had to be downsized--I HATE COMPUTERS!!!
Or maybe I should say I hate not understanding and being able to do stuff on them. If somebody ever comes out with a home computer for the computer ignorant/illitrate (and the people that can't spell), they will be a millionaire overnight , cause I'll sure buy one!
Wish this board had a spellchuck!

Thanks for posting the pics....I owe U one!
The first 4 pics are from Sat---the "dress rehearsal" meet/BBQ on Sat at Bear Creek Park.
The rest are from the Sun meet/BBQ @ BCP.
