Routine Morning Got Much Better

Went out running errands this morning, 4 stops total. Last stop was the grocery store near the house. As I pulled off the street I saw a sweet third-gen Camaro pulling into a spot. Made note of the driver as he was walking into the store. Didn't se him anywhere in the store, so took my few items to the check-out. Was ready to cash out, figuring I would leave a flyer on his windshield. Then I saw the guy, so I got out of line and went and said hey. Turns out he was working, and was about done, and no he hadn't heard of thirdgen.org. We agreed to meet out in the parking lot, and had a good time talking cars. Turns out he is in a group of thirdgen enthusiasts locally.

Gave him a flyer, etc, talked about trips to HRP and the upcoming dyno day. As we started to leave, wouldn't you know it, my car wouldn't turn over! WTF! No cables, no tools. The guy offered me a ride to my house for cables, which we did. Grabbed cables, back to the parking lot. Get inside to pop the hood, tried the starter for the hell of it. Fired right up! Idiot me, I left the door open the whole time we had been talking, interior lights must have dropped the charge. Car hasn't run much since the Spring Fling, and this mornings' trips were short and slow speed. No chance to re-charge.

Anyway, it turned out well. Got to meet a local third genner, pass a flyer and talk car stuff. Need to go check now that I don't just have a loose connection.

Oh yeah, the guys name is TJ. Sweet ride, and thanks for the assist TJ! Hope to see you and your pals around town and here on the boards.

Dave

Way Cool!

Hope he comes on board (pun intended!!--LOL) WE can always use more thirdgenners!

Would like to take this oppurtunity to remind everybody that the flyer that Zap89 (has anybody heard from him lately?)made up for us last year is permanently stickied in the "members thread" at the top of the board. This is a perfect example of why U should run some copies and carry them in the car to hand out.

Yeah, it all worked out pretty cool.

The car had aftermarket paint, a dark emerald green with metal flake. Color matched wheels. It is an RS, with (I think) the IROC gfx. Don't recall the year.

I say everyone should put a few flyers in their car. Heck I have a few in my truck. As we discussed when Zap89 first made the flyers, if you are not a salesman or have the "Gift for Gab", it is easier to approach someone if you have a flyer in hand.

That said, I've found the flyers are very color intensive, using a LOT of ink. I certainly appreciate Zap89's hard work on them, and the professional (color laser?) copies he mailed me are beautiful. However my inkjet doesn't do them justice. Any suggestions?

well, Barry volunteered a long time ago to run some color copies, but he has never come thru with them. He sells copiers for a living and should be able to run some "quality copies", but getting to actually do it seems to be the trick!!!

Well there you go. He doesn't need them. He is both a salesman and has the "Gift of Gab"!
