DFW Area - Wanting Car

I also posted something in the wanted car's forum, but i thought that i would extend it here too.

If you have a Camaro that is in the DFW area for cheap, let me know... I prefer it running, major problems are ok... as long as I can get it to drive for an hour... or even toss it up on my trailer... cheap, meaning cheap cheap. I am a college student. I'm looking for $500 or less. This will turn into a projects car, so it will be loved and cared for once I strip the paint off of it (if it's bad) and fix it up.

Thanks,
ScottieB

My 89' RS in my sig was in bad shape... mechanically and what not. Her trans went out, lots of electrical failures, heater core, heater valve, hoses, vacuum lines, water pump, A/C, tires & rims, all types of stuff. $2000 later she runs great!!! The project car I will fix up and get running, and down the road toss a v8 5.7L and upgraded trans, roll bars, etc etc... But, get it running first if it's not

Start with eBay or auto trader! Or maybe even that junkyard in the Dal/Ft. Worth area that specializes in thirdgens--they might have a good project car U coild start with. Can't remember the name of the place--maybe one of the Dallas crew will jump in here.

Yeah i've been looking on eBay (everyday) for something near me... but there just isn't anything. When people put up on eBay, they usually want a bit more than I'm asking. I have contacted all of the guys around me in Sherman... nothin. So, I am asking here before I go to the auto salvage yards... Also I need to have the cash in hand for them too :P

Try dallas.craigslist.org. I got mine on there for $500. Granted, I later found out the front end was falling off and the entire brake system had to be replaced (the rear drums were ovals, not circles), and the engine needs a complete overhaul, but for $500 what did I expect?

Also, the first few bills of having a shop do it taught me the value of doing your own @#$# work, and a good shop manual (getting ready to do a full gasket replacement on the engine, hottank the pistons and manifold, and soak the carbeurator in cleaner. $4-600 later, overhauled engine....)
