Hi all
It's been a little while since I have been on the boards and there is a good reason for that. I bought a 4th gen Z. My third gen is taking a well deserved break since she was my daily driver for the past 4 - 5 years.
I need some help with the third gen. I have a short some where because the smaller hot lead that goes to the battery has the insulation melting and smoking. Any ideas where I should look first to find the culprit or should I just send it to a shop. If I can't spot the prob right off, where is a good shop to take the car?

I had a T/A years ago that had the same problem. Ended up that the red wire ran to the starter if I remember right. Anyway, it had rubbed on a weld seam and shorted out the battery. Lots of smoke and some actual flames. Got the fire put out before any serious damage.

Re: Hi all
Thanks guys. Almost all the electronics have been replaced due to age with the exception of the starter. How would I know if thats the problem...I mean the car does crank and start.
Thanks again
