according to the facebook page it is going to be on or real near may 31st.

also saw it mentioned somewhere from Waco to Waxahachie will be the place but don't believe it is set in stone. still quite a trek for us.

 

In a perfect world, the wife,bro & myself cruise out there..... Most probable, we end up just taking one car.

 

I'm probably going again this year with my 91 rs dd this time (no promises on whether my 85 z will be done) and my dad with his blue irocz. I like the location we did last year, very cool shady area and less outsiders. If my 85 z is drivable, then I vote for like one of those parking garages if possible (the sound of old school muscle echoing be cool)

 

If it is out by Waco...that's to far for for me. That would be about 3 tanks each way.

it says 3 hours from league city. we will need a place and time to meet up north so we can all go together. but I am planning on leaving early.one or two people can go fast. 4 or more slower. I wanna get there early to get good parking spots. if we end up with a few people we need to plan on leaving early.

Based on the participation and numbers of the Dallas group, it would have been really easy to say "screw it, we're having it in Dallas" But I'm still committed to trying to make this a STATEWIDE gathering, and Austin is still the logical choice for something that is not a brutal drive for most of us.

I'm really hoping to get some San antonio guys there this year. I don't think we've ever had more than 2 or 3, and that's when it was in Austin the first two years.

Does anyone know how's the traffic from Dallas to Austin usually? Just curious, I know Dallas to Houston is there's none from experience.

 

On a saturday at the time we will be going through there we should be fine. I'll keep my eyes open for construction issues.. ect

 

You should be able to do it in around 2 1/2 hours if you drive about the speed limit and don't have construction or accident slow downs.

 

I think it will be more like 3 hours depending on where you leave from. As always, thw Dallas guys will meet up in Hillsboro for the caravan

Okay that sounds good, and yeah I was asking earlier mainly if there was any major construction in May. I'll be coming from East (Royse City/Rockwall area). Again hopefully I can at least get my 85 Z least repainted and reliable to drive before the round up, if not then I'll bring my 91 rs DD.

Heads up guys. The city of Austin has just let us know that anybody using the parking garage must provide event liability insurance. That sucks, especially because everything we do comes out of my pocket. I'm scouting fo a new venue now while RJ works on the city to see if we can get a waiver for the insurance. I'm still looking at places in Austin, but it might be as far north as Waco. I'm pretty disappointed, I was looking forward to the photoshoot with the capitol in the background, not to mention having covered parking in case of heat or rain. Neither one of those are possible without the use of the garage

 

let us know buddy. how much is insurance on a parking garage for a day.

 

BIG roundup news! We are NOT changing the location, but in exchange for waiving the insurance requirement, we are going each going to have to pay $7 per car for use of the parking garage. The management of the garage is also blocking off the top two floors of the garage for our exclusive use on a busy day, so I think the $7 per car fee is a very reasonable compromise. You can thank RJ for setting up the deal for us.

IMPORTANT THIRDGEN ROUNDUP info:
1. All North Texas Guys (and girls) wanting to be a part of the official caravan to Austin should meet at the Braums in Hillsboro (exit 368A, southbound frontage road) between 9:30 and 10 for breakfast. We will attempt to pull out of there around 10:30 to leave for Downtown Austin
2. there is a parking fee of $7 to use the parking garage downtown, but We have the entire top floor reserved, so it's a good deal.
3. Third Gens only on the top floor please, or at least in the main meeting area in the middle. That's where we will have our group shots done. Other cars are allowed of course, but we ask that you not park in the "third gen only area" there are plenty of other areas to park.
4. If you choose to park on one of the covered levels, that's your call. Depending on how hot it is, that might be a great idea, and we can all move to the top for the group shots.
5. There will be a free individual photo shoot for each third gen in attendence using the state capitol as a background.

Here's an announcement for any of you who live between Waco and Georgetown. The DFW caravan wants you to join us for the cruise into Austin. Just be waiting by 11:45 in the southbound State Rest area (exit 282) just south of Salado and we'll be there as close to 1145 that we can, make a short pit stop to get all the cars bunched up again, and be back on the road very shortly. We hope you all can join us! I'll post on the facebook page when we are pulling out of hillsboro, so in about 1:15 (without traffic) we should be arriving at the rest area.

I'm not going to make it this year, I haven't touched my 85' Z yet due to school and my 91 rs has some issues that makes me concern to make it reliably there and back with no problems.

Blew up the tranny in the bird in Colorado! Turns out I had transmission fluid in my radiator & water in my transmission pan....

I'm replacing the tranny this wk so I should still be making this!

 

Dont count me out yet lance, im almost done with my TPI swap. Looks like I will be gettng a harness in soon, Other than I just neeed to get everything bolted down.

After I get it to start I want to give it a whole day of trouble shooting and making sure its not going to take a **** on me on the road...

I am just curious how many people are bringing their wives or girlfriends this coming weekend. I am trying to convince my GF to come with me but she thinks she will be the only girl there.

 

My wife has been to every one, but this year she has to miss due to her mother dying yesterday. Several people do bring their significant others.

 

My wife comes with me every year also. There are often close to 10 or so girls there of varying ages.

 

I come alone usually due to my wife being home taking care of the furry children.
