alright here is where we agree on a place to meet and see whos going....

i think the mcdonalds at the gatliburg exit would be great and not to crowded....

also if we plan to stay the night and we want to stick together we need to go ahead and make reservations now to save money and have the ability to actually get a good place....

I definatly am planning on going. That is if my wife is not laid up from knee surgery. I am not sure If we will stay the night or not also. But meeting a McDonalds will be fine.

Which Exit is it again? I remember were it is, just not the #.

It's April the 11-13. Right? Please, someone verify this for me. As of right now, I'm good to go. Unless something crazy comes up. Mc D's is fine with me, and we can finalize that all later. If I may make a suggestion, I've personally stayed at the Mountain Trace Inn in Pigeon Forge for the past three years, and I'll have to say that their rates are good, and the rooms are really nice. Indoor pool and all. You turn right at the traffic light at the Oggle's Water Park by the Burger King. Pretty good location. I truely hope I get to make it.

I was wondering where everyone went. I had suggested everyone meeting at exit 417 and cruzing the backroads in a 3rd gen convoy to pigeon forge (or gatlinburg). I know everyone will be getting there at a diffrent time, But I think It'd be cool. We could do the backroad convoy thing and avoid hours of sitting in traffic through 66 and Sevierville, and if some of you were planning on getting there earlier, we could ALL meet up in Gatlinburg. Just an Idea. Whatever you want to do. The backroads are a few more miles, but itll save a LOT of time sitting in traffic.

COOL! hey, guys, send me an email and I will keep a list. Let me know about what time you will be able to get to the McDonalds @ exit 417 (I-40) and I will do my best to coordinate a meeting time that will help everyone. I dont want anyone left behind, so PLEASE let me know a day and time. This might help since the rod run is almost in my backyard. Hopefully we can all meet early fairly so we will have time to check out the rod run for you guys that arent staying the night. ANYTHING I can do to help, let me know.

Ok gang, I haven't heard from you all on this thread lately, If we are truly interested in meeting on Friday April the 11th, then we need to decide, considering rooms are gonna be hard to come by. I really need to know cause if we don't plan on meeting, then I'm gonna ride up on Saturday so the wife won't have to miss work on Friday. I'd love to all ride in together though. I just wanna know for sure so I can book me up a room for Fri. night. Hope to hear from you all soon.

ok.....
i think that wee ned this to be a sticky john or jza so if ya would throw one on for us.......

i agree that a 1 night stay will be needed for people that has a medium to long drive like me and bluegrassz as well as deep......

now i cant say for sure that i will be able to bring the ta, but i hopefully will know by the middle of march if the motor has to come out again, it's a long story..........

a 1 night stay will let us rest up on friday and get to know each other and talk a little, then on saturday we can head out and crusie a little as well as go to a few car parts sales and stuff..... with all the people thats going to be there i'm sure that theres going to be alot of people parked on the side of the road watching also that has cars we might be interested in seeing....

then saturday afternoon or even sunday if i stay 2 we will be rested up and can head home safetly.......

but if we plan on a overnighter or 2 then i'd like to get the same hotel so we will have time for chatting and stuff......

we need to find a hotel on the main road in pigeon forge thats not to pricey and has balconys for us to sit and watch cars all day and night..... damn if i could just remember the name of that hotel we stayed at.......

hey wayne, looks like we might have to make a trip down to find a good hotel and make reservations dude...... well talk later...

Hey, guys, got to thinking about the hotel situation. If you guys give me a general description of what you want, I have a local Pigeon Forge phone book and can get you some contact info on hotels that you may want. Post here or email me with a price range, location, and other requirements, and I'll get you some numbers and or web sites to get ahold of them. Hope this helps. Lemme know what else you might need, and I'll do what I can. I would say that the soone you make a reservation the better. These rooms are usually at a premium during rod run, but if you reserve a room now, it may be a bit cheaper. Cant promise you anything, though, for all I know all the rooms might be booked, but its worth a try.

Hey, I'm going to Pigeon Forge this weekend (I hope). If you need hotel info or suggestions, let me know. What I had in mind for rod run weekend was to go down and meet up with you guys friday night (the ones that are staying the night), head home, and meet the rest of you on on saturday, and get all of us together on saturday. Shouldnt be any problem if any of you have a cell phone, or if your cell will be out of area, mine wont (free calls for me), I can always call a hotel room and you overnighters can let us know when and where to meet up with you.

Yeah, youre right, but I am hoping to meet up with the "first group" that is comin in on friday, and to see what I can of the rod run while it is less crowded. Then, (since it is only an hour away) I'll run down saturday, knowing where the overnighters are, and bring the Saturday crowd with me and we can ALL get together. Just hope it works out as well as it sounds.

As far as a hotel, if you stay IN Pigeon Forge, youll be WAY off the interstate, and the Dollywood exit. While I am down there, I will get some "maps" of Pigeon Forge and scan them and post them on here so you will have a better idea of the exact location of the hotels that I get info on. If at all possible, I'll even see if I can get a guestimate from the hotels on rates during the rod run weekend. I'll get you guys all the options I can, but but there is hundereds of hotels in Pigeon Forge, so I'll stick to the ones that look the best for access, view of the rods cruizing the main drag, and something a little cheaper than The Grand Hotel and resort. If what info I get you this weekend doesnt help, I'll be going down there several more times between now and the rod run, so keep me posted what will work for you as far as accomodations go.

Hey, guys. I must apologize, but I am not having any luck making it to Pigeon Forge. I know I said in a previous post that I was going, but not only was I not able to make it that weekend, but it seems EVERY time I try to make it, SOMETHING falls apart and some sort of catastrophe breaks loose, and oddly enough, only on the weekends that I am off! I do KNOW one thing, I AM DEFINATELY Going to the Rod Run on Friday. Anyone that wants to cruise the backroads is still MORE than welcome to meet me @ the McDonalds at exit 417 on I-40 at noon on Friday. Saturday will be planned accordingly. I want more that anything to meet up with the rest of you guys that will already be in Pigeon Forge. As of now, that is the plan, and I know, it's not always easy to carve a plan in stone this far in advance for everyone, but thats why this thread is here, so lets keep up with what the plans are. HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL FRIDAY!! (April 11th)

And I'm gonna add insult to injury to this thread. I'm not gonna be makin the trip at all. I've had some personal business come up, and regretfully, I'm not gonna be able to go. I hope the rest of you who do get to go, have a great time, and stay safe. Maybe I'll be able to catch you guys later on the flip side. Have a great time without me
