I attend Georgia Tech. Anyway, their are about 3 third gens on campus, and I am wondering if any of them belong to someone on here.

Cool. I never saw many around there. I had two different ones during my time there (graduated in December). Started with a black 84 sport coupe, replaced it with an 87 TA.

I've seen a 82-84ish 2.8 bird at center street apts, a red RS i think, and maybe one other thirdgen. What you got? I still spend some time around campus. Oh yeah, what're you studying?

Nice, I don't think I ever saw it around though. Even though I love driving it, I wish I didn't have to drive my TA every day. I hate seeing it wear. Maybe I'll get a chance to check out your care sometime.

I know a handful of CS guys from the Ultimate team, I was Mechanical Engineering though.

Guess none of them are on here. I see a red iroc, a white ta, and white rs every day. That's just in the parking deck I am in so there must be more.

I graduated in September 1990 (Between the Final Four and the Football National Champions!) Textile Engineering. My 1986 was new during my Tech years in the late '80's and there weren't that many even back then. Coincedentally one of my roomates had a 1986 2.8 L Black Sport Coupe. I lost count how many times my car was broken into at Peters Parking Deck and Techwood Dormitory (now gone thanks to the Olympics!) parking lot.

I now sport an official GT license plate on the back, and it isn't a coincedence that my car is factory Black-n-Gold.

So how have things been for the past 10+ years? Glad to hear you've still got your thirdgen. Talking about the breakins reminded me of when my TA was stolen from the lot at 10th and 75/85. That sucked.

Things have been great. I've been back in my hometown after living in several states. I originally entered as a ME planning to work in the automotive industry, but switched to TE so I could get a job in my hometown, well I ended up being gone for 8 years and ironically ended up in Detroit working in Automotive! (Interiors). I am still in automotive working for a carpet company that makes interior soft trim. I was somewhat lucky graduating in Sept. 1990. Many of my buddies who graduated in 1991 had problems finding jobs due to a recession in part by a conflict between two men named Bush and Hussien (deja vu!) Howz the job market now?

My senior year I lived in some now demolished apts. right off of Howell Mill. One morning I found my steering column all busted up, but the unsucessful thief could not get the steering lock to break free. Was your TA recovered?

I plan to always keep my thirdgen. I refuse to sell out and buy a Beemer . I did pick up a new Vette (1995) along the way though!

The job market is awful right now. It seems that most of my graduating class has yet to find a job (myself included). It is rare that I can even get an interview. It seems like there are jobs out there, but there are so many engineers with a few years experience that it is hard to find something straight out of school. Granted, I've got a lot of co-op experience, but that doesn't seem to be doing too much for me. Of course, I'd love to work in the automotive industry, and have sent a good number of resumes to OEM's, suppliers, etc. I have seen some openings in interior component suppliers, but looking for 5 yrs experience. I'd also love to work in the aerospace industry, despite it being hit so hard lately.

My car was recovered, and I'm still driving it. Since then though, I've not been able to afford replacing the lost stereo equipment or get the interior or hood latch returned to as good condition as it was pre-theft.

That sucks both about the job market and your car!

When I was in Detroit ('95-'98) things were booming, and Motown couldn't find enough technical people to fill all the jobs, mainly because of Detroit's negative image. I actually liked it there. Are you from ATL? Are you looking just in ATL or all over?
My first job out of Tech was with Amoco in a small town in SE Georgia (Hazlehurst). I was considered a 'yankee' down there since I'm from 'north of Macon'.

Speaking of Aerospace my father made a career at Lockheed in Smyrna (he was a plumber - there are hundreds of miles of pipe in that 70 acre building). It paid well, but he was laid off 3-4 times. It was either feast or famine there.

Good Luck!

Everyone is scrambling for jobs. I am behind by one semester thanks to coop, but all my friends are jobless for after graduation in May. I also have a friend who is still looking for a job from fall graduation.

I am so glad I am just going to go get my masters right away!

I am soooo tempted to go back. With application deadlines set up like they are though, it would be almost a year before I could start. Should've planned ahead and already had that taken care of I guess....

I send resumes off into some black hole never to be heard from again. I sleep late and wrench on my car every few days. I run out of projects for it though, since I don't have any money to spend on it. Job interview on tuesday though, so hopefully things will be headed in a better direction soon.

I went there for 2 years, decided not to do engineering so I left, will probably be starting Climpson this spring. I have a white/grey firebird, use to park at woodruf gravel lot(wouldn't recommend someone tried to steel it there), then the next year parked at apartment over beside engineer book store "The Hotel Roxy".

Sorry bad pic currently redoing computer and couldn't rember which CD the good ones are on.

I used to live at the Hotel Roxy!

What are you going to study at Clemson?

As for my job update: Things are picking up, people seem to be interested in talking to me now. We'll see how it turns out.

Former Yellow Jacket here, did my undergrad and grad work there and finished up in 2000, geotechnical engineering though, been working in SC since graduating. Couple of third gens when i was there. I used to commute in my ragtop my last couple of years. I'd have to get there early to get in the Mason parking lot before the gates came down. Ahh the fun times.

Your car is some shade of blue, correct? I think I saw your website through the thirdgen mailing list while I was at school and caught the tech connection there. It's been a while since I checked it out though.

Yup, it is the medium blue found on the later third gens. The appearance hasn't changed a whole lot, just rims from then. The engine has probbly changed a fair bit, but thats always changing.
