thanks Joe! i saved a beautiful machine from just anyone getting it and destroying it. i think you are going to like it. plus i did some looking at it and it has a 9 bolt borg warner like yours. i have to get the axle code for the gear size. i'll tell you more about it sunday. i am doing a tranny flush and a rad. service saturday at work. and changing fuel filter. it will be clean don't worry. my 88 will be coming as well i'll be driving that. the wife gets the 86 since we gave up her car for it. so now she will feel like put of the gang too.

no i haven't really had alot of time either. this 54 hours a week is killing me. but i need the money. got a couple of payments to make on it but it will take 8 months to pay off the rest of it. wife is loving it much better than her cougar. she is glad to be rid of that thing. i will start the decoding soon if it has a rpo sheet if not then got to do it the hard way. i didn't have a sheet in mine. took me years to find all thoughs options i have. i really hope it has a sheet.
i should flip my lights down and take another pic.

I've still got the original hood from that car, although it's dented from the side where the previous damage had occured....I can try to get a picture of it, and if you think it's fixable you can take it for free. My neighbor's been dropping hints lately that he's sick of seeing it leaning against the house out back.

Re: Volusia County Florida!
i need to find a t/a hood fairly cheap. i have been working on the 86 this week though trying to make her purr just right. cap rotor and coil, plugs, knock sensor, electronic spark control module and tomorrow harmonic balancer. wifey hasnt been able to take it to work at all this week. car wants to stall if left in drive or park and foot on brake. need to keep the rpm's up at a stop. i know that it isnt the timing already went though that. ran codes got the 43 fixed and found out balancer is bad as well. so after this i am hoping it runs as good as the 88. keep thoughs fingers crossed. and see you sunday

Re: Volusia County Florida!
i am pretty sure that it is the balancer since it wobbles and the rubber seal is coming out of the housing on the engine. two of my fellow co workers are ase mechanics and my manager has built to f bodys in his younger years. and a neighbor who builds 60's cars looked at it too when the problem started. they are all in agreement. i won't rule out vac leaks but i don't think that is it. i have checked the lines. but we shall see. i had already thought of the iac though good call on that willie just need to rule out balancer first because of the way the problem started. i had no problems before the tune up. all the bad parts were working with each other and the good parts arent letting them act up now.
Re: Volusia County Florida!
I would pull off the TB and clean out the IAC passage. Also, recheck any vacuum lines, connections. I could find no leaks and my car was running similar to yours. I found a vacuum cap by the firewall w/ a tear in it. Couldn't even hear it leaking. I replaced it and reset the ECM, car has run flawlessly ever since. HTH

Re: Volusia County Florida!
got the balancer in today. was rubbing the timing cover and little on the pan. rubber seal inside was all chewed up. she is running like a champ now. no surging at idle or acting like it wants to stall or nothing. my other shop fixed it for 35 bucks employee discount. they showed me the old one though looked about as rough as kevins bird after the accident. thanks for the thoughts though. sunday 10am walmart on beville. roadside. cant miss us.
----------
if you are refering to me then i was talking about the 88 hood. mine is warped and dented a bit. 86 looks beautiful

Re: Volusia County Florida!
no interior pics yet i may take some tomorrow. saddle and charcoal interior. carpeted trim in the trunk. stock exhaust but they did cut the muffler off and replace it. mild sounding no very loud unless you really get on it. t/a's in 86 only came one color if it was tuned port from what i have found. and that is black. i dont have an axle code on it and believe me i looked. so since the diff pan is leaking when i replace the gasket and flush that fluid out then i will look at the gear size and if i can read it then i guess i am going to have to count teeth which is a pain in the n*ts. original floor mats still in it and in good condition. the console is going to have to go along with the shifter and the stock radio. but for the most part i am not going to change much about this one. i want to keep it in good shape and looking like it does. i may get another stock console in better shape but then i may switch it like i did mine. not sure yet.i still have to pull the sail panels off and see about the speaker option. for suspension it does say performance suspension on the dash but i have to measure stuff to see if it is ws6 like my 88. hey willie are you going to make it this sunday? you missed kevins firemaro. that thing was looking sweet. he may have fixed it by now.

i figured one of you guys would remember the recaro seat package. if you ever find recaro seat get them dont hesitate. i would gladly trade in my 4th gen seats for them ill tell you that much. thoughs are by far the most comfy seats i have ever sat in. thanks joe i forgot the seats. and ttops.
Re: Volusia County Florida!
Put the shifter in D while driving, get to 60 MPH - and see what RPM you're at. That will give you an idea of the ratio. If it's a 10 bolt, most likely 2.73 or 3.23 - 9 bolt 2.77 or 3.27 ratio.
2.73 or 2.77 = about 2150-2200
3.23 or 3.27 = about 2500-2550
HTH
