Guys, I need a code read, and some problems eliminated....plz help!

I got a '91 TA tpi/auto. Ran fine then all of a sudden the following things happened:

1) car got slugish
2) SES light came on
3) car shifts funny, I had to let off the gas for it to shift
4) the engine revs fine but the car doesn't doesn't move like it should
5) Tranny mount needs to be replaced asap. makes a nice thud when shifting hard
6) Got home and looked under hood, it was dark but the exhaust mannies were glowing red, moreso on the driver side one.

It doesn't smoke, but I'm afraid I just bought a lemon.

Could any of you guys help me out, any advice, does it sound like something? Is there something I could check?

Call me: 480-231-3568. If it's 3:30am and you think you might know, give me a call. Please!

-Kevin

That's kinda what I thought too. Maybe the built up exhaust not getting out just made the cat glow. I've never seen that before.

As for the code, I still need to get it checked. Do you have a scanner or know of one of you guys tht does?

Thanks.

I did a search and I they said check timing, well I can't do that right now.

They said something about the distributor, like a bolt might have gotten loose. Will check that tomorrow.

Also, only 1 manifold was hot, they said to check both ECM fuses. So I shall check those things.

Anyone free sometime tomorrow to meet up and help me out? I just bought the thing and I'm freaking out. I called the owner and he said, he doesn't know anything. He seems like an honest guy, I just don't want to have a lemon here. I love 3rd gens. I don't want this to happen anymore.

Yeah sounds like a clogged cat to me too. Same thing happened on mine a while back. But the tranny, that could just be the TV cable out of adjustment.

where do you live,or where is the car at?you can get the code by putting a paper clip in the two top left holes in the computer connecter, then count the # of flashes the ses light does, and the haynes books have all instructions to do it, and the codes.
