Anyone show up at the Pavillions? I'm a Monte owner, not a thirdgen owner but I'm close to there.

Re: Who's who??
Hello there, I'm Bill in the Ahwatukee area. I've met some nice 3rd Gens people at the Scottsdale Pavillions this year and will be ready to do some cruisin in September. I'm really impressed with many people on this forum who are helpful and willing to work with others on their cars. My kinda car buddies, for sure. Thank you.
Re: Who's who??
Hey folks. One thing I wanted to mention. As I said earlier, I don't much about cars, and my tool collection is pretty meager. Because of that, I'm not sure what I have to offer to ya'll as a group. Nevertheless, I've got two hands, and I know which end of a wrench to use. I work long overnight shifts on the weekends, so I'm not really available then, but my weekdays are pretty much wide open for the next few weeks until school starts up again.
I figure most folks do a lot of their work on the weekends, but if something ever pops up during the week where they need an extra set of hands working on anything, I'd be glad to help in anyway I can. I can also offer my phone number in a PM to anyone who might be compiling a list, if that sort of thing is still happening.
I wish I was able to offer more than just a willingness to help at this stage, but hopefully soon I'll get to the point where I can offer more. From what I've read so far in the various threads, this seems like a really good group, and I'd be happy to meet up with you and lend a hand wherever I can.
On a different note, it seems as though my carb/idle troubles may have been taken care of. I learned as much as I could about my carb (an Edelbrock 1406) and I'm at the point where I'd feel confident if I had to tear it down and rebuild it if I needed to. What I wasn't able to do though was fine tune it just right. If I brought the idle up too much, I wound up getting some dieselling after turning off the ignition, and if I brought the idle back down to the point where the dieselling stopped, then it'd be too low to keep the engine running.
I realize it was just a matter of finding the sweet spot on the carb settings, but I just couldn't dial it in. Anyway, I brought it in to Granite Reef Auto (on a recommendation) up on McDowell Rd. and Granite Reef (right across from the huge General Dynamics building) and spent some time talking with Mike, the Shop Manager. He got it dialed in for me in just a minute or two, and didn't charge me for the adjustment. They seem like an okay bunch of guys up there, and if I get myself into a situation where I need a shop to handle something on my car, I'd feel confident bringing it up there again.
So, for whatever it's worth, they seem like a decent shop, in my brief experience with them anyway.

Re: Who's who??
Whats going on everyone? My name is Nate. I am up in surprise near Greenway and Sarival. I have a white 91 Z-28 that has been a headache since buying her... Right now I am trying to find a set of replacement heads for her to get her running again. and also need to re-do the entire fuel system.. Bought her off the original owner for $1000. this is my second 3rd gen. I had a 89 RS back in Highschool but ended up selling that when I joined the Air Force.. Stupid mistake.. anyways I am down for helping anyone out. I am decent at mechanical and electrical work. Plus I am a quick learner.. so if you need any help just hit me up.. the number is 6238069422.
Re: Who's who??
Heyya Nate! I'm pretty new around here myself, so I dunno if I count as part of the official welcoming committee, but I'll say 'Welcome aboard!' anyway.
Now, this gets me to thinkin'... would anyone be up for a sort of Meet & Greet / Drive In / BBQ sorta thing? I know we're all scattered around the southwest area here, but maybe we can set something up in different local areas, or if there's enough interest to draw folks in from afar we can look for something more centrally located.
Being one of the new guys myself, I know I'm interested in getting to meet some other owners and drivers, checking out their rides and handiwork and such.
Anyone interested?

Re: Who's who??
Welcome aboard guys. We definately need to do a meet and greet type of thing. The hardest part is getting everyone together at the same time. I think in the next few weeks we can figure something out. I get one day a week to do other things that is not work (as in my business) and cars are what I like to do. The last time I had my day, I helped drknow90rs_ss@y with changing out springs for suspension. Had a good time with it. I'm sure we can find a good set of heads for you, Nate. I might know where some are, but not sure on the time to look.

Re: Who's who??
I'm in for this month. Let me see what Saturday or Sunday I have open and we can plan it for that time. Jason and I can meet up and go together. Andy, if you are not working, we'll figure on getting you and Chris up there with both cars. I will see if Aaron is up for it as well.

Re: Who's who??
Hey guys, My name is James and I live in Queen Creek. I own an 88 Formula 305 TBI. Ive had the car for a couple months now. I bought her as a project / daily driver as needed while I work on her. She was an out of towner when I bought her so I had to get all the emissions equip back on and now finally have her registered locally. Now time to start working on making everything perfect. Ofcourse Ive got a long way to go from an $800 car, but atleast the eng and tranny seem strong.

Welcome to the boards james its always good to see new people. My name is Alex. Thats a heck of a deal for 800 bucks!!
Re: Who's who??
Hey there James. Welcome to the boards! Sounds like you got a pretty rockin' deal. If you need an extra set of hands working on anything, I'd be glad to help.
So you're thinking Sat. Aug 22nd? I may be able to do that depending on the time. If it's an afternoon kinda thing, I can probably do it, but I don't have enough notice to get the night off from work. If the timing works out though, I'm up for heading out there.

Hey all, my name is Mike, I am a fellow Phoenix west-sider. Hailing from Luke AFB, this is the first post I have ever made on this site. I currently own a 91 RS 305, an 86 Firebird with a dead 2.8L, and an 83 Berlinetta that has a slightly modified and non-stock 350. I have the factory repair manuals and service bulletins for 91 Camaros and 86 Firebirds. Some of the info in these manuals is worth it's weight in gold.

Re: Who's who??
Looks like Saturday is good for most of us. I will be with Jason earlier in the day, so I will probably be riding with him to the meet-up. My car is parked for now and will get it going sometime later down the road. Have a bad lifter and now going to switch to vortec heads with the TPI. I should be getting my manifold this week. Who is all in? Let's get a count here so we can all meet up and have some fun.

Re: Who's who??
Well, my car is absolutely not show quality. The interior is a disaster, and the exterior is currently in a state of "work in progress" so I don't know if it'd be a good idea for me to show up to the Pavs or not. Having her there might be more detriment to the cause, as it were, and I've got zero interest in dragging anything down by showing up. heh.
But having a meetup with just this group, I'd hope that you all would be a bit more understanding about that sort of thing. If anyone has any particular time in mind for the West Side meet up, I'd dig driving out there for that. Already know the place (or, at least I've got a rough idea of the intersection!), just need to know the when!

Re: Who's who??
Hey all...new here and just found this thread. My name is Patrick, and I'm from Tucson (one of the few here!) I owned an '86 Trans Am, T-tops, 305 w/5-spd when I was in college (20 years ago), and am looking for another third gen. I'll be buying around the end of Sept, and I see several good candidates out there in AZ--I hope one or two are left by then.
I can't wait to get those T-tops off in the cool Arizona winter!
