Question about salvage title

My daily driver registered here in AZ, I was in California and I crashed it. The insurance totaled it. I bought it back, fixed it and got it running. I am not sure what to go about to do next. I paid the registration in February. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this whole process with a salvaged vehicle in AZ.

Re: Question about salvage title

Went through this about 3 years ago, as I recall, insurance gave a check with the salvage value deducted, then after it was repaired it had to go through an inspection at DMV, was issued a salvage title and new plates. Think that about it but I have trouble remembering yesterday so don't quote me exactly. Think it was a level 3 inspection, cost was $50. Not to bad really.

Re: Question about salvage title

If my car was registered in CA I would have to do all that within 10 days. I don't know if AZ has a time limit for the inspection and reregistration.

Re: Question about salvage title

i dont think there is a time limit in az. i crashed my car and had to get a salvage title before the insurance paid me for it. (i still bought it back but i had to do the title first) other then that i think you just get a temp tag for it so you can take it to the dmv inspection place

Re: Question about salvage title

I'm not sure if the person who started this thread still needs to get the salvage title dealt with, but I've had to do it for a couple of my cars already. Basically, you need to go to a specific MVD office that does the Level 3 inspection. $50 is your inspection fee, and usually its a walk-in to the office, they're only open during business days, and for the love of all that is holy make sure you don't go during lunch hours ahahaha! As far as your car goes, just make sure that the seat belts keep the meat in the seats, make sure your lights are functional, and generally make sure that the car is safe to drive. I went through with a dented door, and I was fine.
