hi,
anyone have a solution to a back hatch window shattering? Can't find just the glass anywhere. Found a 91 firebird back hatch, window in, but ugly, that i am assured will fit my (was) beautiful 92 anniv edition, oh and mine has t-tops.

The glass is the same. Take the metal parts off the broken glass. Put them on the good glass. Reinstall the hatch on the car.

 

Thanks beater79TA So you don't think the whole hatch swap would work? Cuz taking the deck off both mine and the replacement and trying not to damage the molding, thats going to be HUGE pain.

 

What molding are you worried about? The metal deck lid attaches at the back with a couple screws and some adhesive. The weatherstrip can be replaced. The upper bolts just go through the glass. As long as you don't use glass from a GTA there won't be any differences in the glass or metal trim around it.

 

The left and right side molding is really soft and 1)can't be taken off w/o bending it and 2) you can't find it anywhere to replace...not the weatherstrip.Just think would be easier to swap the whole hatch, if it will fit and line up with the latch etc.
Really appreciate your response. Guess I could grab the whole hatch, try and if not try just the glass.

 

If you're talking about the metal trim around the edge of the glass, I don't think it comes off. Just mask off the glass thoroughly and spray it black while everything is off the car. Then assemble it and install. The only differences in the metal trim around the glass is on the GTA's where the wrap around spoiler has attachments built into that trim.
