Tires?

Last post for this morning I promise!!

Ok...My tires are finally worn down to "Racing depth"... unfortunatly my mom saw them and said there is no way in hell that I will be aloud to drive in the rain with tires that are almost bald...(she doesnt understand the fun of doing donuts on in a wet parking lot!) but seriously I cant make a turn at over 5mph in the rain(or even pull out of a driveway with water draining) without turning it sideways...fun! but a pain when your not expecting it!
So being broke and all(although this counts as a saftey issue, so dad may pay for them) I need at least 2 new tires that will fit 16in wheels for cheap... I want performance tires-no all weather ugly crap! with decent tread life... I heard someone talk about Kumos(sp?).. any recommendations for brands and stores to get them at?

P.S.-The rims that are on my car now- what (year/make) did they come off of originally?

Go to www.tirerack.com and do a search for 245/50/16 Kumho tires.

You will see Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 for $85 each

They are not the cheapest you can get in that size, but close to it, and they are very good tires to boot.

Guess what? The cheapest tire in that size is also Kumho, must be a new one, I haven't seen it before so I don't know about its quality. But, knowing the Kumho name it is probably a very excellent tire for the price. Biggest diff I see is that it's H rated rather than WR like the 712. So no faster than 130 MPH on this tire:

Kumho ECSTA 711 $63 each.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the info...good site!

I dont worry about the 130mph limit...my poor 305 has never seen much over 90mph!!!

Kumho

So the Kumho ECSTA 711 for $63 sounds like the way to go...I dont think my car will ever see much over 100mph (especially in the motors current condition!) so the speed rating shouldnt be much of a problem!

Thanks for all the helpful info guys!!
