Tune up...

Hey everybody!! I going to try to give my TA a tune up sometime before my b-day(Thurs.) and the Cruise this Saturday.... I remeber at one of the meetings Chris, I believe, was disecting oil filters and so I was wondering what turned out to be the "best bang for the buck"??? Also I need plug wires badly, they were arching off the exhaust manifold meanwhile I have gas leaking at the fuel filter(dont know why?), not a good combination!!! So I was also wondering what would be the "best bang for the buck" for spark plug wires???

Thanks for the Info!!!

I think ac filters are supposed to be as good as anything on the market. You would want 8mm wirewound plug wires, but I don't know that one brand is better than another. You want as low resistance as possible, but you can't check that until you buy them and open the package.

I think a lot of us use the AC Delco PF35 filter. Its the truck version and longer than what they specify for our cars. That gives you more filter element for better filtration.

For spark plug wires, the Borg Warner wires for TBI trucks are the hot setup. Part number CH8833. They're already 8mm and come with the coil wire, which I dont think you need. Check the ones for an 83 Trans Am tho. I think the earlier f-body years use 8mm and the newer ones are 7mm for whatever reason.

Borg Warner Nascar Select, available at Pep Boys or Kragen
About $40 a set.

But, you need to have headers to use them as they won't reach around the manifolds. (CH8833)
With manifolds, use the ones prescribed for your application.

Cant really go wrong with an AC filter, and they are easy to find no matter where you go. Just stay away from Fram/Pennzoil/Quaker State.
