These numbers indicate a faulty catalytic converter. (not working)

new spark plugs, new plug wires, timing, O2 sensor, cat. all of those can affect whether or not you pass smog.

Is the air tube hooked up?
Do you have any vacuum leaks?
These are things that will affect those numbers.

Hey Don...

Can you do Test only smogging? cause for the second time in a row I have to go to a Test Only station and I have a feeling it wont want to pass again(last time we finally took it to a carb shop and he found that one of the diaphrams broke and was sucking fuel into it)! I really need it to pass quickly and trouble free-I have the only legal car in my family!(My dads 93 BonnevilleSSEi needs to go to a test only station too but it has the check engine soon light on all the time so he hasnt passed-5 months past due! And our Suburban is 7 months past due and we cant get it to pass at all!) Im going to take it to a pre tests and see what happens...*crossing my fingers*

I hate Test Only smogs......doesn't your Zip code have to do with whether you go to a test only center or not?
Cuz I have two zip codes I can use. My PO box and my house zip

Mostly depends on your car and the engine. My Trans Am is smog test only all the time while the Toyota truck is random. The Trans Am has to go to the smog only places all the time because it is categorized as "possible gross polluter"

No Britney, I dont have a smog shop, but I have a guy locally I go to that doesnt nit-pick.

The only way your zip code matters is if youre in a high-smog area, which is almost all of southern california. Check http://smogcheck.ca.gov/ for more info.

i have 86 trans am/ carburator with smog issues. Did the basic tune up improvement. Did not pass, it had high Nos , it smoke a little before the tune up, but now it runs great, but the smell feels toxic and makes me sick. It s like weird not gas smell or exhast but head ack smell.
