stupid mechanics

mycar was running crappy for some time now. i decided to give it a tune up, so i got around to changing the plugs and found that the last person i took it to only changed the plugs that were visable to me, and they also happened to be the easy ones to get at. anyway, i got into changing the plugs and it took me 4 hours and A LOT of agrivation so for now on dyno don is doing my tune up's and everything else on my car. ive heard that hes trustworthy, good, etc., so dyno don, wanna give me some directions to your shop?

The last plug, the one closest to the firewall on the drivers side was easier to get from underneath the car. At least I found it easier that way. Being that I don't have a universal extension for my socket set. Would make it much easier to change the plugs too.

Luckly i had the car already jacked up when i had to change the plugs. I was doing some other work that day and said, "why not."

all of the plugs were pathetically easy until you run up against the 1 cylindar and drop the plug between the starter and the engine and takes 2 hours to fish out.

**** lol id attempt it everyday if i were you, you must have taken like 25 minute breaks between each plug. Practice makes perfect, i hope that next time you do ur plugs u come online and say it took u 15 minutes. Tops

a hot plug burns (ignites) slightly hotter than a stock plug and a cold plug burns slightly colder than a stock plug.
Hot and cold plugs make a large difference in a 2 stroke engine, but not much in a 4 stroke.
Sometimes with a older engine a hotter plug will help the burn.
Unless you can "read" plugs, the color shows how the engine is burning, it is best to stay with the stock heat range. And with all the additives in gas now, reading plugs is almost impossible.
Go to sears and buy a basic std/metric socket set, then add to it as you need.
Removing the front tires helps get to some plugs.

i wouldnt attempt the job without the right tools. my dad has an extremly extensive tool set that he lets me use. i've never ran into a job that i had to go get a tool for. i had the swivel, deep sockets, and 3 in and 5 in extension. they were still hell. however he told me the same thing that DevilsAddvocate said...practice makes perfect.

also, the wheel wells make it impossible to gain any access to the plugs. how does it help you?

thx for the advice.
