Making roll cages, using the mill, lathe, planing perimiter frame, engine blueprinting, porting cylinder heads, setting up supensions Now the problem i have is i don't know if i should go into custom work or work at a dearler I really enjoy the custom work but i need to know if i should start doing custom work or work in a dealer for a few year any sugestions would been greatly apperciated

ide say do what you like doing best, if you like customs head that direction, whereas a dealer is more general.

Sounds like you really enjoy the custom work. The only question I would have though, is what is the job market like for custom work?
I've heard of many people completing the Transportation Design program at Art Center only to find there are no jobs available. This happened to a friend of mine. He ended up doing architectural design type stuff.
A former roommate of a friend of mine also went thru Art Center only to find he couldn't get a job in the auto industry. However, he did then land a cool gig at Mattel designing Hot Wheels and has been doing for this for a few years now.
Of course, another option is to go into business for yourself, but expect about a 2 to 3 year period before you start turning a profit.
I'd say explore your options and see what's out there. If you can go to work doing custom stuff and that's what you love, then go for it. The flip side is that it may make sense to work for a dealer to get started, save up some $$$, then segway into custom work.

If you like doing custom work, you might want to see if Boyd Coddington is looking for help in Yorba Linda. I don't know what he pays, or how he is to work for; but if you are going to start your own shop, having worked for a "name" would be good on the resume.
