Funny you cant modify the location of the cats. You wont pass the emission test with dual exhaust because it was not an option on our cars. But running a cat on your car doesnt hurt the performance that much if you run a hi flow one that is

But if you turn up the fuel pressure and richen the intake, you'll burn up the cat so make it removablea and put it on for inspections.

I just learned something also about Catalytic convertors. We require a 3-way cat on our cars. You can not run a 2-way cat becuase they do not convert the NOx and Calif checks for NOx reading on our years.

A great link for info on Cats. http://www.car-sound.com/04converter.asp

If your car came with dual cats, you can technically run dual exhaust, but a single 3" pipe flows almost as well, and is a heck of a lot easier and cheaper to install. And, a 3.5" pipe is even better.

CA's IM240 emissions test in the populated areas of SoCal include a visual inspection for catalytic converters, and everything under the hood hooked up and functioning properly. You are not allowed by FEDERAL law to remove or disable any part of your car's smog equipment.

Dont be a red<x>neck and give our hobby a bad name. Keep your smog equipment functioning. Your lungs will thank you, too.

Technically yes you could but running dual exhaust like howys car was set up would be illegal because you can not move or modify the cat from their original position
