Stand alone computer for electronic trannys
Stand alone computer for electronic trannys
I was watching one of the hot rod type programs on tv and they installed a 4L60e trans in an older Camaro. They got a stand alone computer from G.M. Performance Products to work the trans. It looked like it was about the size of an MSD ignition box. I don't know what the cost is or if it will work with tpi engines or if it is just for old school carb motors, but it looked like a possible alternative to going with the complete rewiring needed to run a 93 model lt1 computer in our cars to get the advantages of the electronic controlled transmissions in our cars.

I'm considering the one form TCI for my upcomming 4L60E project. I believe it is cheaper. It will work with TPI engines and is easier to do than the carb as all the needed signals are already there. With the carb I believe you have to install a TPS switch. You do with the TCI version.
You gotta add the paddle shifters also Alan. http://www.twistmachine.com/

Actually the 94+ f-bodies have 4L60E's. The 93 used a regular 4L60 like ours.
