brake help...

brake help...

i posted in the brakes forum but no one helped me so i thought maybe my socal pals will lol


i have a 91 camaro z28 with 4 wheel disk brakes in the caliper there is a allen head in the middle of the caliper is that adjustable? my parking brake is staying on 100% of the time and im trying to loosen them any help would be appriciated u can even call me if it would help 626 area code

I am assuming you mean the center bolt of the parking brake lever assembly on the side of the caliper when you say allen bolt. no, that is not an ajustment. It sounds to me like your calipers are frozen and not functioning. This is common for these type of calipers. I would suggest getting replacement ones through something like autozone, they are very resonable in price from what I recall, something like $40 each with exchange.

i mean directly on the caliper where the back pad sits i attached a pic..

I agree with Dean my calibers would freeze from time to time, to my surprise they did not even brake, i found out on the dyno. Have you tried lifting the rear end and checking if the brakes work. If the calibers are bad you might also consider doing an ls1 rear brake swap
