Third Gen Expert Shop
Third Gen Expert Shop
Been busy for years.
I'm looking to for a shop specializing in Third Gens that can figure out what it will take for my car to pass smog on it's own with out guessing and making me throw more parts at it. I'm the original owner. If it weren't for the 120K miles on the original engine, I would say the condition is MINT all throughout. I've tinkered with it for the past 4-5 years and I cannot spend any more time on it. The car has been a garage queen for at least 15 years with only about 100 miles a year into it the past 15 or more years. I've thrown parts and sensors at it including cats, EGR, EGR solenoid, injectors (done by Chevy dealer), sea foam, even the windshield fluid and coolant containers, etc, etc. etc.
Every new part I can think of has probably only a few hundred miles. From having replaced just about every part in the car, I can only deduce that there must be computer adjustments, my best guess. Does such a shop exist where I can take the car too and get it properly diagnosed or or fixed? I would post smog numbers but at this point I just want to pay an expert to look at it. I am in the Los Angeles area but would be willing to drive within reason. While it's been fine, I will probably part with the car and get a high gas mileage vehicle soon and would like to pass it on with out any issues. Priorities change.
Thank you for the help.

Re: Third Gen Expert Shop
Have you tried Dyno Don. His son Kevin can tune your car (TPI only) and find most problems and Don can fix anything on a 3rd gen. You can find their info at the top of main page in 3rd gen friendly companies.

Why don't you bring it by Sat. and Kevin and I will give it a quick once over to see if we can figure out something quick and easy.
