Just wondering if anyone has ever used their mini spare tire and if so can you deflate and use it again? I have never used mine and I'm not even sure if the can it came with even works.

I Have The Foldable Mini-Space Spare Tire,Only Used It Once Since I've Owned The Car, Worked As Advertised,Yes It Can Be Reused Providing The Sidewall Isn't Dry Rotted.

I used the one on my 91 and it worked great (got a spring pin through the rear tire, flat in about 10 seconds). I mounted the spare, inflated it and dropped the car back down and drove home. As soon as I let the air out, the tire folded back down.
What I need is info on recharging the canister.

I have inflated and deflated my mini-spare just for fun using my air compressor. I don't trust the cannister to be properly pressurized after so many years. I keep a 12v air compressor in my trunk "just in case" and would use it instead of the pressurized cannister.

I found the original recharge canister at pick your part in the back of an 82 firebird. I got it for a dollar and its full too...plus the correct bracket mount and the fold down spare tire for 8 bucks. They didn't want to sell me the canister for some reason but I spoke with a supervisor and he ok'ed it. It's neat to have for authenticity but I won't use the original canister.
Cool find!!

Yeah it really was! I went with 3rd gen member 841le( he actually found it and pulled it out) and he said he has not seen one at the salvage yard for 3-4 years, so even though my car did not come with this setup originally, it's better to have the spare that will inflate to full size than that little wobbly donut spare lolOriginally Posted by leo037

Hey where can one get one of those 12v compressors to keep in your car? I am hoping they are not too expensive, any leads are appreciated, as I am not exactly sure what I would need lol, but I do know I do not like flat tires and do not trust that canister either!

Any auto parts store will have a small 12v compressor that plugs into your cigarette lighter. They are also often included as part of an Emergency Road Repair kit along with other items you should be carrying such as jumper cables, etc.
Actually I just did a quick search online of a nationwide auto parts chain and discovered that it will be easier for you to find it if you search on "12v air inflator" instead of "12v air compressor".
