what are signs of a bad porportioning valve or boster?

my brakes are shiity, they front brakes are locking up on me every now and then, but they are new calipers..porportioning valve?? the PV and boster are the only things i havent changed on my brake system.

Have you changed your brake lines? If these are old, what can happen is the lines themselves collapse when you release the brakes instead of the pistons retracting back into the caliper. Had this problem on my old Trans am.

they are still the old lines.......how would i check for that?? now the pedal is just hard as hell and i have to stand on it for it to stop in a hurry. i need this fixed by friday! is there a way to check to see if the booster and porportioning valve are working properly?
